Toshiba REGZA - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support

There is a known problem with Toshiba Tvs that options change with out any input of buttons or remote. the tv switch panel needs replacement. This is situated behind where the buttons are on your tv usually bottom right. there is a work round if you dont want the expense of part replacement. you can disconnect these buttons and only use the remote. This requires taking off the back (ensure tv is disconnected from power as there is high voltage in the tv) once the back is removed and tv is laying on its front you will see bottom left where the buttons now are, a couple of cables one will have seveal wires and one will only have a couple of wires take the smaller one off this will disconnect the buttons and stop the problem. once this is done you can only use the remote control to control the tv settings but the power on off button still works. Good wireless headphones have "line in" cable with 2 RCA plugs, which must be attached to TV's "audio out connectors. If you have only "optical" or "coaxial" audio stream out, you must upgrade your "wireless" gear to accommodate those signals. Forget about "headphone" jack! It's a blast of the past!Thanks,Alex.

Hi, Please immediately stop using this device and send it to Toshiba for a repair or replacement. It's not normal for a tv to blow fuses like this and could be a fire hazard. Thank you.

I would try sing a TV converter and a digital converter and see if that fixes the problem.

reset your diaplsy setting s to factory defaults.
also check your power supply waltage and earthing properly working

In my case, the 42HL167, the CPU pcb (most commonly referred to the SEINE PCB) is having issues booting and just isn't starting up.

My friend gave me his 42HL167 after this problem started after a power event during a storm and I managed to fix it by reloading the firmware.

I agree -- it seems like a design flaw. What cracks me up is that the places I called for a replacement SEINE PCB require the core (the bad PCB). Well GEE, why is that!?!? EASY FIX MAYBE?

select the audio settings some models can some models not possible

Most of the time it is the touch button assembly on the tv. The Volume down touch button switch is sticking.

read the owner manual, the book that came with the set--it is telling you the panel or front controls for the set (maybe the remote also) are locked to prevent them being used, there will be a method to unlock them in the owner manual

You have to remove the back and you will see about four bolts that that need to be remove to disconnect the stand.

To unlock the panel lock of Toshiba TV, follow this.

Press the "Menu" button on the remote control, and scroll until you come to the "Preferences" menu. Select "Parental Control and Locks," then press "OK." If your TV does not have a "Preferences" menu, go directly to the "Locks" menu.

Enter the four-digit PIN that you selected when you turned the Panel Lock feature on. You may have to scroll up or down to access this area

Press the "Up" or "Down" buttons on the remote until you reach the Panel Lock feature. Move the cursor to select "Off," and press "OK."

How to access to my tv's service menu?

worth , is personal thing, but boils down to. what is the cost in shop to fix it, (not cheap) against a new TV or used, only you can can answer any question of economics. you posted TV to computers, and TVs are not. that. this TV is 13 years old today, does the TV part work, at all , even on antenna? That TV has lots of features, do any work at all? the home screen is dead, (booting is the clue) so sounds like to me power supply issue inside, making the brain inside dead or its memory banks. my guess is used, dead, 13 year old TV is only worth $100 for parts. and tad more working, I'd upgrade,

i moved you to TV from computers. can you see the video on the screen with a flash light.??? i bet yes. all LCD have back lamps. that must work or turn black, or dim use flashlight first to see data/tv presentations,, this TV is 9 years old today this TV has CCFL back lamps (sell it and get LED TV) here is page 37 in your manual (ive never seen one last 9 years) quote The cold cathode ? uorescent lamp used for the back light on this TV has longevity.
