You did not post the model number but this is a sign of a problem with either the back lighting system or the power supply.

I would guess it is either overheating, or someone has a Samsung next door and your remotes are the same. :>/ For overheating, go around the back and side vents with a vacuum cleaner with the small brush attachment on it.

Your EEPROM has some bad files on it. It's an expensive IC to chance if you have the equipment and knowledge to replace it, other option is replace the main board

No it can't. All that type are single set. Google make model replacement remote they cost about $20.

maybe your connections are wrong.

The yellow pin is for video, while the white and red pin are for audio left and right.

So, your wires will be connected to video and audio "OUT" from your player and connected to "IN" respectively on your TV.

That's how it gos. Its a input and output law. The Player will be sending out the pictures and sounds (OUT) and the TV will be receiving from the other end (IN).

Its as simple is that. But if there is still no picture, then cross check your video wire (yellow), maybe its bad.

I found it!!

In my case, the 42HL167, the CPU pcb (most commonly referred to the SEINE PCB) is having issues booting and just isn't starting up.

My friend gave me his 42HL167 after this problem started after a power event during a storm and I managed to fix it by reloading the firmware.

I agree -- it seems like a design flaw. What cracks me up is that the places I called for a replacement SEINE PCB require the core (the bad PCB). Well GEE, why is that!?!? EASY FIX MAYBE?

no there is no magic button, I would replace battery and if that did not work buy a universal remote or Toshiba remote. they are readily available on line.

The power supply system inside the set is faulty. You haven't mentioned the model number of the device here, so no body could answer you. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Surf the site with patience. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Line, faults & possible causes are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent. Anyway, the fault should be it its main power supply board.

I just had the same issue with this old, hardly used the SD-V391 DVD/CD drawer not opening. Took off the cover (5 screws, 3 back, one on each side), plugged in, heard the DVD motor whirling but no activity. Manually opened the mech tray by the white slide release (right side, under the mech), and saw the motor gear was not on the motor post. Found the gear, replaced it on the motor post, and works. Hope this helps folks, saved 20-30 bucks for a player at a thrifty, time to do this fixya was about 10 mins.
