Make sure all connections are free of debri....USB connections can become wallerd out so to speak and create the intermittant problem... Built in keyboard could have been loosened underneath the keyboard on notebook is a flexible connection that if pc has been droped or fallen so to speak could be needing to be reseated........

just check ur power options .
may be turn off monitor after 10 minutes is enabled.
change it to none

there is little slider door on the left side of the laptop. you push it toward the back then press the power button that you just exposed

Handbrake is free and powerful. However, as for a novice, I prefer to the easy to use DVD ripper like Leawo DVD Ripper. And you can follow below steps to rip a DVD.

Load the source DVD file

With Leawo DVD Ripper running on, click "Add Blu-ray/DVD" to add DVD files or just drag and drop DVD files onto the Leawo DVD Ripper software.

Choose Output Format

Click the drop-down list named MP4 Video by default on the left of the green "Convert" button, and choose output video format. Note: The drop-down list is named MP4 Video by default, but if you have changed the output video formats into others, the drop-down list will display the according name. For example, if you have set MOV as output video format, you will see the drop-down list display MOV Video when you launch Leawo DVD Ripper again.

Adjust detailed settings

Clicking "Edit" to adjust video and audio parameters of output format, including: video codec, quality, bit rate, frame rate, aspect ratio, channel, audio codec, resolution, etc. Note: This step is optional. If you don't know the exact parameters to set, you can directly leave those parameters at default or just skip the step.

Start video conversion

Click the big green "Convert" button on the top-right of the interface to start the conversion. Before conversion, video saving directory can be chosen. For more details, check: Rip DVD to Computer

Hard drive might have failed or there could be other faults. Try removing the hard drive and switching on. Switch off and reinstall the drive and switch on again. If this restores the drive to the list then all should be well, if not try a new or different drive.

The computer is very old. Most commonly the error messages you're seeing are signs of hardware problems. Mainboards are on EBay but with laptops they're very difficult to replace. Memory could also be a problem here. So you're looking at a process of elimination. The value of the laptop is very limited due to it's age. It might be time to consider investing in a new computer.

hyjacker You Nis, dreams this is easy .... NOT.old old PC, The bios will be in NVram or EEPROM this oldif you did the fix(test) and remove all power sources first and pushed power button to discharge all caps it the PCand you see the NVram clear and show errorsthen set BIOS to defaults. then see PW gonethen you learn this PC is NVRAM + PW years (very old)then if all that fails you know the PW is in EEPROM. and you will not fix that lacking help from hackers or from asking Toshiba, they will ask you to prove you own it, or fail. new laws.

redux,. what PW is it, master means zero. sorryphotos of screen dead, not postedanswering for BIOS supervisor PW lost not hdd, no windows.the top site on this SHOWS, its a gen2 PC.eeprom pw chip stored, and not easy at all to clear.but the RTC coin cell now 13 years oldwill not hold charge (it's a NiMh cell)power on let it charge for 24 hours then test the PC (the manual tells you this if you care to look)I took the internal battery out for a weekwith AC pack pulled, and main huge battery pulledif not the 1 week I useless, all power most be removed, all 3 power sources dead. ok?if you did that and PW shows then this is not a GEN1 toshible (NVRAM PW stored)it proved it GEN2. JAN 2018 post. answer above forgets the owner has no PW. wow. that said that clearly to me above; that PC has rechargeable battery deep inside. (oddly) the above poster only fixes Change PW never LOST PW. ok? Lost PW or dead battery fixes. this pc , turn it on, and let it charge the RTC battery deep inside, Thoshiba is the only PC that does this Ni-Mh battery deal. and only charges turned on. after charging this battery below turn PC off then on the see if the PC asks for BIOS admin Password, if yes post back or read my 2 other A8 posts here with the 12 steps to clear this PW. ok, if the NVRAM scrambles (as all do A8 if parked in shelf for say a year) then the NVRAM scrambles and now the PW is lost. so it ask for PW, if you power on and hammer the F1 key, BIOS may POP to 1st screen then hit BIOS reset key for, return to default settings. then exist and save. proof the USA A8 manual quote, read that carefully ! that last line above, is OMG , really? and is true.... must be left on for say 24hours, 1hr min, I guess. also the battery this old will be bad, In most cases, sorry never seen a 12 year old Ni-Mh any good anywhere.

In Internet Options, Connections tab, click the LAN settings button and deselect anything that is checked. Also look at your Firewall settings if you can' open specific sites.
