that trigger can be swapped out you need to chase up a speed drill parts list for the model see if that variable speed trigger can be supplied new or discontinued or superseded ebay ? or you need to sourced a used unit in better condition ! or a new one

It seems that the Ironsmith trademark for machinery products was held by Tractor Supply Company. With luck, Tractor Supply Co. may hold a copy of the user's manual for the Ironsmith 12-speed drill press in the company archives and a copy (maybe a scanned PDF document) can be made for you. i would look on and maybe even call ereplacementparts.com i use them for my needs and they tend to be cheaper than amazon for parts.

Most drill press' have cover on the top when opened expose two different sized pulleys. Speed is adjusted by changing to different combinations. The speed is usually shown inside the lid on a chart with the different combinations of pulleys. Hope this helps.

Reversible means that you can set it to either operate in forward--turning clockwise, or reverse--turning counter clockwise. FIRST it depends on the model Machine most cases its difficult and only left to replace the complete switch because there is inside OR OUTSIDE the switch a mosfet used look right corner downunder the photo how it looked always this mosfet is mounted with a screw on a heatsink if its insite the switch the heatsink is long and on the switch heatsink is outside the switch on if its outside replace the yellow , blue and black cable as its mounted if all black wires then look of the model code name of the mosfet where gate , drain and source are on the wires . in most case the mosfet has sometimes not a standard code to get from Ebay or a shop and also not to get by the importer.
