Sony vaio pcg k 15 notebook beeps on starup

If you hit some keys and then it starts - it indicates a stuck key on the keyboard. Check the keys to make sure they are all fully up and nothing has been spilled on them or gotten stuck under them. Keys can be removed usually by prying gently under the edge and replaced by pressing down firmly. Probably what is happening is the if a program opens and you see a series of 4's is that the "4" key is the one sticking partially and preventing boot up. The beeeep is simply to tell you something is wrong with hardware, ie: keyboard, mouse, memory will all generate a long beep or several short beeps. The owners manual will list beep codes to help you determine where to look to find the problem.

Recovering password or reseting

Well the failsafe way to do that is to remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard. But that involves opening the case to the laptop and finding/removing it.

Opening a laptop is certainly not an easy thing to do, however.

Another option is to find your model number, go to the SONY website and find the manual. There may be instructions in the manual on how to clear the CMOS password.

Also, there is sometimes a RESET button on the bottom of laptops. (It'll usually require a paperclip to activate it.) If your laptop has that, then it'll most likely clear the CMOS password.

Good luck.

Can't import vob files into windows movie maker

To use Vob files with movie maker, they need to be converted first. This can take a little while, but there is no other way, as windows doesn support dvd playback by default, and whilst codecs will give you playback, movie maker will not accept them, even with the codecs. To convert your vob files to "avi" (the format needed for movie maker) yoou will need converting software. Most of this is very expensive, but thankfully, one of the best is actually free! It's name is "super" and it can be found at the following web address http://www.erightsoft.com/S6Kg1.html
By the way, the download link is at the bottom of the page.
Wish you the best of luck,

Laptop SONY VAIO VPCEB32FM: how to remove BIOS password

The BIOS password is probably the Power On Password. This method may not work. Remove the BIOS battery for 20 mins until the charge in the BIOS is depleted. Insert the BIOS battery go into the BIOS setting and set the Date and Time etc.If this does nor work then the BIOS password is stored on an EEPROM chip and removing the BIOS battery won't work and there is probable no backdoor passwords. The Sony support maybe able to offer a solution, check the support WEB site..

Hello, My laptop will not start the windows

blue-gw42ordsyt3sl3dyidksgpsd-2-0.png In Figure 2-2 you can also see that the Windows service SPCMDCON.SYS has failed. From the BSOD, you should be able to gather the following information: •The stop error number, which uniquely identifies the error •The stop error parameters, which provide additional information relating to the specific stop error number •Driver information is available if the source of the problem relates to drivers Armed with this information, you are able to search online to establish the problem and hopefully a resolution. In addition to the information available on the blue screen, if the system is able to be rebooted after the BSOD, either normally or using Safe Mode, it is useful to take a look in the System Event Log and view the error message. For example, a faulty driver during boot up usually has the stop error code STOP: 0x00000050 and an Error EventID of 1003. If your system refuses to reboot successfully, or is trapped within a perpetual BSOD that restarts over and over again, you should take the following steps. Press F8 after the BIOS screen appears. From Advanced Boot Options, select Disable automatic restart on system failure, as shown in Figure 2-3. This allows you to read and make note of the information contained on the BSOD. You can then allow Windows to attempt a reboot. If the perpetual loop reoccurs, select another option, such as Safe Mode, from the Advanced Boot Options menu. If the perpetual loop reoccurs, select another option, such as Safe Mode, from the Advanced Boot Options menu. boot-gw42ordsyt3sl3dyidksgpsd-2-2.png To disable the system from automatically rebooting, take the following steps: 1.Click Start, right-click Computer, and select Properties. 2.Click Advanced System Settings. 3.In the System Properties dialog box, click the Advanced tab. Under Startup and Recovery, click Settings. 4.In the System Failure box, clear the Automatically Restart check box. These steps can also be configured if the system is booted in Safe Mode. There are over 300 unique stop codes, and most are quite rare. The full list can be found on MSDN within the Bug Checks (Blue Screens) reference at https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/hh994433(v=vs.85).aspx.

Toshiba dvd rom sd r6012 isn't reading the DVDs

Try some factory CD and DVDs and just try to get them to open in Windows (not play in a media player program). If you get errors on every disc you try, it may be your CD/DVD hardware packing in.

If it reads some CDs or DVDs and not others, particularly media discs, you may be having software driver problems, otherwise, it is likely hardware.

Try inserting the disc and spinning it up while resting the laptop on its side, or even upside down. If it reads sideways or upside down, the CD/DVD reader hardware has gone and cannot probably be prepared (this is a symptom of physical controller failure and is ot fixable by normal means).

Good luck...

My Sony Vaio VGN-FS690P has

Hopefully this helps. Right click on your volume control icon. Open the "Volume Mixer," and make sure that nothing has the mute X on. Then right click on "Volume Control," and make sure that the volume control is checked to play all sounds, and that your Speaker box is checked. Next step is your music, if the sound was muted directly @ the music playback, this could be the problem. Open your Media Player and try to play music, if you cannot hear it, click on the mute button to the song playing. If your Player was shut off in the "mute" mode, then you will not hear sound. It Happened to me once. You will need to check all of your "Players" to see if any of them were shut off in "mute." Ponder/Meditate/Pray for Peace. Mary Oliveau { hugs }
