Hello
OK, i would firstly advice you to make sure that all the audio files you copy to the unit is actually .mp3 format. If the files is not in .mp3 format, the unit will sometimes give you this error message.
Kind regards

I have a FlashTrax FTX40
Thank you for posting your question on Fixya! As you may your media player uses a hard disk as the primary storage device. The type is usually 2.5" SATA. From what you have described, the hard disk of the player is the source of the problem. The noises usually indicate a hard drive crash. Even though you can format the disk to get it back to normal, The only way to recover the data on it is to take it apart, get the hard drive out, hook it up to your PC and use a data recovery tool to recover the data. I usually use a software called data rescue PC to recover data from dead drives but its a bit expensive(Currently costs around 90$). To prevent this from happening in future always use the SD card option to store the files. Format the SD card using FAT32 and store your pics. I have been using my card formatted using FAT32 for almost 3 years now on various devices without a problem.
Let me know if you need more help.
Sai.

I can't find the manual for my Flaxhtrax and can't
Deleting Files,Pictures,Videos,Audio
Books, etc. from MP3 Player/Ipod
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hook up your mp3 player to your computer
Go to your desktop and double left click on "My Computer"
When it opens you will see listing that says "Devices with Removal Storage" your mp3 player should be listed there.
Right click on your mp3 player, and a window will open, right click on "Open" and now your files/songs should be visible.
Hold the left click down and drag it across all the files/songs that you do not want this will highlight the files/songs you do not want, release, right click and then click on "Delete"
Now you mp3 player should be clear of the files/songs you do not want.
Be careful and do not delete files needed to operate your MP3 player.
Good Luck,
I hope this helps
Please do not forget to rate me,
Thank You
