1,747th unit made.
7 amps 120 volts - that is 840 watts or a bit over 1 horsepower and from that is claimed the (optimistic) performance of 450 cubic feet per minute and an air speed of 260 mph.
I advise a large pinch of salt with those specs as a 12 amp (nearly 2 horsepower) model claims a more reasonable 200 mph and 410 cfm.
I doubt you will find a cordless model to match the performance of a corded type though if one is available it would probably have a short runtime from a fairly large battery.
Backfire usually means that it is out of time. This sometimes happens when something is hit causing the flywheel to jerk shearing the flywheel key. Remove flywheel and replace woodriff or slot key.
You can buy another one for $25.00--$300.00 on eBay. I had the same model once, did not last very long and the parts were more than the thing was worth. I tossed it and bought a Dewalt and there is no comparison the Dewalt quality exceeds the craftsman, has more power and runs smoothly. I do not buy any tool made in china.
