The drain will not drain
If its in the drain it could be hair caught up around the stopper or caught up in the trap. It could also be further down the line, such as if your in Michigan it could be a frozen pipe.

I am not in this field, but when I saw it done, there was a cable that attached to that arm. Maybe the cable fell into the casing. See if there is anything attached. The cable is then pulled/jerked hard upward to release the arm.

I would recommend you install a small tank on the cold water inlet to water heater. You don't need one any larger than two gallon to take care of pressure variations when water heater is on. To answer your question I would say no it is not necessary but I think it's a good idea. Thank you

Hi,
By turning the top part (umbrella) CCW you should be able to spin it out and see if the threads stripped or if there is something bent. You also can checkout the spring and make sure it is working and is not bad also.

Basement watchdog charger does not stop charging.
Hi, whenever a charger will not stop charging, it is usually because it is not "Seeing" the correct charged "Internal Resistance".
This can be for one of two reasons, One, the Battery is faulty, and even though it may appear to charge nevertheless there is an internal problem with the battery. Two, The charger is faulty.
How to tell, the ONLY way is by substitution, with a known good one. Either replace the Charger or Battery and see if the "Problem" follows.
Usually if the charger isn't faulty, then most times it is the battery itself, the internal resistance increases as it ages. IF a wet cell, it may respond to battery rejuvenation, potassium permanganate, Condies crystals, KNOH8 a teaspoon per cell is a great battery rejuvenater.

What size npt thread is the adaptor
Common American National Standard Pipe Taper Threads
- NPT - National Pipe Thread Taper
- FPT - female (internal) National Pipe Taper threads
- MPT - male (external) National Pipe Taper threads
- NPTF - Dryseal American National Standard Taper Pipe Thread (ANSI B1.20.3)
For NPT threads a sealant compound or Teflon tape must be used for a leak-free seal. For NPTF no sealant is needed for a sealing.
Characteristics of NPT (also known as ANSI/ASME B1.20.1 Pipe Threads, General Purpose):
- tapered thread 1o 47'
- truncation of roots and crests are flat
- 60o thread angle
- pitch is measured in threads per inch
Note! Pipe sizes do not refer to any physical dimensions. The outside diameter of a pipe or fitting must be measured and compared to a table for size identification. A 3/4" NPT pipe thread has an outside diameter - OD - of 1.050 inches.
Each thread size has a defined number of threads per inch - TPI, or pitch. The 3/4" NPT pipe thread has 14 threads per inch. Both the TPI and OD of the thread are required for positive identification of thread size because more than one size have the same TPI.

1) The taper is 1/16 inch in an inch, which is the same as 3/4 inch in a foot (angle 1o 47')
NPT threads are not interchangeable with NPS - National Pipe Straight - threads.
NPT threads may look similar to ISO 7/1 threads. However, ISO and NPT threads should not be mixed. ISO threads have 55o taper angle versus 60o for NPT. The NPT root and crest configurations are also different from ISO. For ISO threads pitch is usually measured in millimeters (may be expressed in Inch). The pitch are different.
Galvanized nipple broke off in fitting
Hi grumpy, W/D here.
The easiest way to get a broken nipple out is to use a nipple extractor. It works like a bolt extractor, but has lobes that extend when you turn the end. I bought a set at a piping supply house for ~$10. This has 3/8", 1/2" and 3/4" extractors in it. If you do more than just a little pipe work, they're worth buying. I don't know the cost for a single extractor but they should be available too. Call ahead!
Best regards, --W/D--
Can the umbrella portion be removed in order to
Hi,
Yes.. but it is tricky...you need to loosen the nut underneath the sink and then to use something to grab the top part like a plumbers plier to turn the top off. Most of the time you will have to ruin the top part to get it off...

Will my copper sink still look good in years to come?
It all depends on the coating on the sink.
When exposed to air, copper will naturally oxodize and develop a blue/green coating or a dark brown coating that is called a patina.
In order to prevent the copper from developing a patina, it would need a clear coating of some sort to keep the copper away from the oxygen. The type and quality of these coatings vary from manufacturer to manufacturer and you would need to find reviews for your particular sink in order to evaluate them. There are even blends of copper and stainless steel to give you the benefits of both.
Most copper sinks will be uncoated and the manufacturers recommend waxing them to slow the patina process. When all this is said and done, even if your sink does turn green, treatment with a copper polish will remove the patina and bring it back to a bright copper look.

You probably punctured a water line(probably plastic). You will have to shut off the water to the house and cut open the drywall to examine the damage. Leaving the nail in the hole will not solve the problem. You may have water leaking into the wall now.
Who has the best nipples? ;)
I don't know what the nipples are connected to but you may have a dielectric issue. If the nipples are chrome plated brass and their attached to galvanized fittings you're eventually going to have a problem, because of the mixing of the two metals is causing dielectric corrosion. Even wrapping teflon tape isn't going to help since NPT threads are sharp and will cut through it when you tighten them. Try to get nipples made of the same metal as what they are attaching to. I recently purchased some decent chrome plated brass nipples from Home depot, but they weren't 24" only 8". I hope this helps.
Pegasus Push Button Vessel Sink Drain with overflow
Put plumbers putty around the flange that will be in contact with the sink. When you put it into the hole, try to line up the overflow as good as possible. The nut that goes onto the bottom (tailpiece) has a rubber gasket that will go between the nut & the sink. Adding some plumbers putty here won't hurt. After all is secure, just remove the putty that squeezed out from tightening.
