Bag will not seal • Check that there aren't any gaps, folds, wrinkles or holes in pre-sealed edges. • Moisture of foods with high liquid content will prevent the bag from sealing properly. Cut bag open and wipe top inside of bag and reseal. • Make sure you've placed the bag in the proper place. When making a bag from a roll, make sure end of cut piece is on Sealing Strip, NOT over Lower Sealing Gasket or in Drip Tray. • Make sure you give the appliance time to cool down. Wait at least 20 seconds between seals. If all the above have been verified and the machine will still not pull a vacuum, you will need to replace the upper and lower gaskets.

Sounds like the Thermal Fuse inside is blown unscrew the 2 screws on bottom of the cooker you should see a small 2.5 inch insulation wrapped wire leaving a ceramic mounting block to one of the element poles. Now you take off the nut and unscrew it from the pole. Cut off the insulation and underneath will be a Thermal Fuse. If you have a Ohm Meter or a continuity tester attach each lead to either side and it probably will test negative. Part # is written on the Thermal Fuse. Probably a

I cook 140 lbs of beans every year at church for a ham & bean dinner. I soak them overnight in 4 large rubbermaid containers (about 35 lbs in each covered all the way to the top with cold water). In the morning I drain the water, rinse beans and divide between about 14 cookers (several of them are the 22 qt roasters). You can put beans in to about 1 1/2 to 2" of the top rim. Put a ham bone in (I pre-cook about 12 10 lb bone-in hams two to a roaster sitting in about 1" water several days before, chop the meat, save the juice and the bones) and a cupped palm full of salt (3/4 to 1 T ?) and cover with water. Cook on about 350 degrees. When they start going dry add the leftover ham drippings that were saved (I usually have it heating in a crockpot nearby so that it doesn't slow the cooking of the beans down).
