Y148 is the quartz movement model, 8009 is the case number. The 491300 is the serial number, which means that the watch was produced in January of either 1994, 2004, or 2014. I have no idea what the A1 in a box is for. I hope this helps.

sadly, if the battery is indeed dead, it's time for a new watch. the cost to replace the battery will be the same as buying another one off ebay, pawnshop, craigslist etc.

This is the serial number. It tells you that the watch was manufactured in April of the first year of a decade (e.g. 1991. 2001, 2011 etc). If it's a quartz watch, it's probably one of the example years shown.

The Pulsar pxh227 uses a sr920sw silver oxide battery. An AG3 alkaline battery will also work, is cheaper, but will not last as long as the sr920sw.

You might need a jump start the watch, or cleaning. I usually try using a air dust blower ball to get all the particles that is invisible to the eye, you can do this on the movement and around the battery area. Aftwards try inserting the battery again then pull out the stem and move it clockwise at least 10 times passing the 12'o clock marker. If the watch is not brough back to life you can try one last thing before buying a new movement or taking it to the watch repair shop. If you take it to watch repair shop they might charge you a few bucks to jump start the movement. I hope this helps. Marcelo
