WOW ~ quite impressive! "Hard Water" contains lots of additional elements and chemicals. These tend to corrode and calcify parts. I suspect a sensor has become contaminated/encrusted and now fails to reset BUT YOU DID NOT include a model number so I can'l help you any further. Anthony

Try again exactly according to the operating instructions: 1. Switch off the appliance. 2. Clean and dry the metal contacts on the residual water drawer. 3. Switch the appliance on again and remedy the fault as follows: - Push the residual water drawer into the appliance and leave it there for at least 20 seconds. - Remove the residual water drawer again. Then empty and dry it. - After at least 20 seconds, push the drawer back into the appliance. The appliance is now ready for use and will continue the process started before the fault occurred. 4. I am by no means an expert. I have an electronic background. I have been looking at my mother in laws iron and noticed a few things about it. Check the foot pedal switch. it is easy to acess. Lay machine on its back and remove the two screws and the cover. If you have a continuity test just make sure the switch changes states when you push it. Hope this helps
