I have an LX200 10" that will not function properly in vertical drive mode. In alignment mode, vertical drive seems to operate at high sped. When alignment star is selected, horz works normally but

If new batteries does not fix this, also try looking at the cable ends to make sure none of the small pins are bent.

If all of the above is OK-- this error usually indicates a fatal error in the internal circuits of the hand controller.

From time to time you can find a 494 controller on Ebay and AstroMart.com
