Maytag Gas Dryer Model: MLG2000AWW doesn't dry
I had a similar issue, except that mine would sometimes fire and so eventually the clothes would dry. Still, it would fail to fire often enough that it took a long time to dry. So, I went through the steps of replacing the two gas valve coils (no improvement), and checked resistance of various parts (found no problems). The only thing noted that I didn't check was whether the motor centrifugal switch was working correctly. One thing I noticed is that the flame seemed sort of weak; I should have paid closer attention to that in the first place. I ended up finding that the interior of the flame tube nozzle was somewhat clogged with soot. The primary culprit, though, was the "jet" (I think that's the correct name) where the gas is dispensed from the valve into the nozzle. It's a 1/2" brass piece. Unscrewed it, cleaned it out, and the dryer worked like new!
Hope that helps someone. In my weeks (months, actually!) of trying to figure out this problem I didn't see a single mention of gas blockage or soot.
My Maytag dryer won't start when I hit the start button
My dryer light comes on for my Maytag SDE4606AYW dryer when you open the door and I can hear the timer clicking but when I hit start the motor doesn't even attempt to start but there is obviously power. My dad just installed a new power cord to the dryer but this is a seperate issue as we were obviously unable to check the motor before we got a cord for it. He has years of electrical experience so I'm assuming he connected the new cord right. Any ideas on fuses in the dryer or why it may not be getting power?
Home Inspector detected gas leak coming from inside Dryer
The main valve in the burner may be leaking a little--if so, the valve assembly will need to be replaced. Did the repairman detect any gas as the home inspector did? Make sure the machine is level and does not rock in any direction that might fracture or loosen the incoming gas line. Have the gas supply company check for leak.
