I have two Makita chargers and three batteries of various ages. battery chargers no longer charge the batteries.

Do you leave them plugged into the mains all the time? Voltage spike possibly. They can be repaired, but you need the model number in the search query. https://www.google.com/search?q=Makita+charger+repair ..

Electric Makita HP2051 chuck won't close

I don't really know how a chuck works. I use them often on a drill press, cordless drills, etc. My grandfather always said to "check the simple things first." Could something have gotten in the way like saw dust, dirt.....? ? I might suggest trying using compressed air and blow it out? You can buy a can of compressed air at office depot.

I have a brand new makita hammer drill and the chuck is not stuck. It opens and closes freely but the bit still wont come out? Any ideas what may be going on?

Hi. Just to clarify, it is a rotary hammer drill, not an impact drill? In most cases those machines put out 3 joules of energy on the back of the drill bit. If it was a cheap bit, the hammer action "mushrooms" the end of the bit making it difficult to remove. You could try to force it out using a bench vise, but you could damage the chuck.

Hi I am having trouble with my DMR108 Makita radio. I keep getting this code appear and powerfail. I do not have a power cord with it or battery charger. I have replaced AA batteries but still can’t get it to find radio stations. It was my partners but he recently passed away. I don’t want to get rid of it if I can somehow fix it please.

I think this radio uses two different sets of batteries. There is the smaller batteries that store preset radio stations and a larger battery pack to power the actual radio. If your partner had other Makita cordless tools some of those batteries will fit and there will be a charger for them. I've put a link to a website for a users manual. (try looking at page 3. The larger battery will be a black block which is the same type used for the cordless tools. The squarer battery pack style should slide upwards towards the handle and the rounder shape battery packs should just pull out. Talk to a good builder or a Trade tool supplier and they may be able to help or order you the power cables you need. If not contact Makita directly and they will be able to help you. https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1339075/Makita-Xrm04.html?page=3#manual

A makita battery charger is flashing red with a battery plugged in, what does this mean?

On the Makita 18-V DC18RA charger, the flashing red light means that the battery is not at the correct temperature for safe charging. If the battery is hot (from use or being in direct sunlight), charging will begin when the battery cools down. If the battery is cold, then charging will start when the battery warms up. (Note: the cold battery could have moisture condensation issues. This could delay the start of the charging cycle.) Home Depot has the manual for this charger here: https://images.homedepot-static.com/catalog/pdfimages/35/35393127-7c0b-4668-8609-9104ae7cc187.pdf . I suspect that Makita uses the same "code" on all of their chargers. I hope this helps. Cindy Wells

Makita drill cordless smoking

The brushes are probably wearing out. They can also smoke if they get dirt or something on them. You can take the drill apart and replace the brushes, but if they are just burned some, take some fine sand paper or emery cloth and polish the armature where they run and clean the brushes and reinstall.

So I have a Makita 1850 battery that says it's broken when I put it in the charger. But when I took it apart all voltage and connections are good. Any ideas were i can get a new circuit board or how I would test the board?

I’m not sure if you can buy a new c/board .
The charger tests the battery before charging & if it picks up a fault it won’t charge the battery. At our repair shop we just replace the whole battery ( under makita warranty if it’s under two years old / depending on what warranty your country has )

How do I know if my Makita charger is working the red light is no longer illuminating when battery is placed in charger

You can try to recharge batteries and see if they work by placing them in tool. If you are using Ni cad batteries and charger, you would better served by going lithium ion batteries.

Is there a trick to getting a makita drill driver back together after changing the brushes

Yes, there should be a couple of tiny holes in the brush holders you can push tiny Allen wrenches in to hold brushes back against springs to clear armature to assemble.
