I just bought a Royal Navy spyglass and cannot focus it---help please
Wow ! At last, a sensible query - thank you. I have no knowledge of this equipment, but from what I can gather, it is what is known as a 'Drawtube' telescope - i.e. comprising two or more tubes which slide in and out (in the traditional 'telescope' fashion) - with me so far ? Good. The eyepiece is at the narrower end, and the 'object glass' (the bit you point towards the item you wish to see) is at the other. To focus this kind of telescope, pull all the tubes out to their fullest extent. Then, holding the instrument in both hands, put your eye to the eyepiece, and point it at the subject. It should be visible, but probably blurry. Now gently push the section with the eyepiece into the next tube, and eventually you should obtain focus. Resting the scope on a firm object will help to support it.

check and see if you see an "M" in the display....if so hold down the mode button for at least 5 seconds and change it back to "Y" yards.....try and rate.
