Hello Irene Booth, There are several things you can do to check the suitability of your freezer settings ... (eg: if you put a small container of water in the freezer... Is it mostly frozen in about 45 minutes?? Things that would aid in trouble shooting... Liebherr nomenclature: model number...??? New... or new to you? Had previously worked... Never worked. General observations... Frost forming in back of freezer area Doors square and fitting properly... Gasket in full contact (visibly) all the way around the freezer door/drawer... and is in good condition - (can physically check by pulling a dollar around the gasket). If the Ice Maker has EVER worked ... We can skip the basics of checking the water supply is hooked up and TURNED ON. If you can fit your fingers in the ice tray to feel for water or ice in the tray ... that would also be helpful. Finally... for new models... check that all packing tape & materials around the ice-maker have been remove. Although your model appears to be a TWIST TRAY type of ice-maker... there is still a sweep or fill bar that is supposed to check the fill level of your ice bin. A single chip of ice can hold that from moving freely... your ice maker will not work ... !! Hope this helps Carnac the Magnificent

If the compressor happened to be running when the power surge happened, it's possible the motor inside the compressor has failed. There are safety devices on the compressor that may have gone bad too. The electronics in the controller don't do well in surges, so that may be the problem too. It all comes down to how much the repairs will cost added to what you already have done to it against the cost of a new unit.

Turning it off does not reset the unit, unplug it from the wall for a minute.

It is quite normal. No problem at all.

Check the cabinet temperature with an independent thermometer. If it is does keep a stable temperature the problem would probably be electronic. A power outage is often accompanied by a voltage surge. Sensitive electronics and computers can be damaged by a voltage surge. People are used to protecting personal computers with surge protectors but fail to realise these days almost everything is a computer or contains a computer. Radios and tv sets are computers and so are cars and even the humble toaster these days has some computing power. Today almost everything but the cheapest of appliances should be protected. A minimum surge protection can be obtained by using an area surge protector.

get a piece of wire or something similar and push it down the drain tube to push out any gunk blocking the tube

Because the interior light on/off switch has developed an intermittent connection. Replace the switch.
