After a long time trying to make this work I finally found a solution yesterday. and it was so simple I almost kicked myself. Now i'm enjoying DSTV on my JVC TV. and the Answer is KODI. find an add on from SLYGUY. you still need to have a subscription.

What is the region number of your player? If it isn't region 1, you cannot play region 1 DVDs on it.

Hi, you can try firmware update online or by usb if it isn't in the last version yet. The other solution is replace the main board (motherboard)

You surely meant LED not LCD.

Eliminate any posdible issues with skybox and try using a simple DVD player to a different input port.

I don't know but surely if your tv has an option for analogue inputs there will be a range of sockets for the job - phono and/or scart. If the sockets are there connecting will be intuitive. Many modern tv sets are compatible only with boxes, converters, decoders and media players that provide a digital output. Analogue to digital converters are available but I can't comment about how successful they are. I suggest you revisit the user manual of your tv.

1. When "REGION CODE ERROR" shows on screen after you've input your wrong-region DVD you push "ON SCREEN".

2. When the DVD-menu is showing push "ON SCREEN" again and another DVD-menu will appear.

3. Move the arrow over to the clock and press enter. The menu asks for "TIME" and you write 0:00:00 and push enter.

4. You will now see the menu for the movie. Remove the DVD-menu by pushing "ON SCREEN" once. You can now watch the movie.

Your hack is GREAT!
Works fine on the JVC XV-N342 too.
And right for JVC on the ESS chip:
JVC XV-N320, XV-N322, XV-N330, XV-N332, XV-N340, XV-N342
and so on.
