Just reporting that I called Hampton Bay about the remote not working to reverse the fan. I was told that I needed to have the fan running on low and then press reverse on the remote control. If that doesn't work, customer service told me to press reverse while running the fan on medium. (Some fans are set to reverse on low and others on medium.) Nowhere in the manual is this addressed. I had been pressing reverse with the fan turned off, which seemed to me a logical thing to do. Live and learn.

I think you have already figured out what the problem most likely is; 60 watt bulbs. Down-size the wattage or install 'energy saver' bulbs if they will fit the application. Instead of counting on these units for extra lighting, perhaps think about Track lighting to fill in those ares that need more but subtle light.

They are just a low-end fan for Home Depot. The Hunters in Home Depot are also low-end. I personally would never buy Hampton Bay. Did you ever notice that the fan problems on here are mostly Hampton Bay, Harbour Breeze & Hunter?

You best resolution now may be to replace the light kit with one available at Home Depot ..

the ball-chain switch is available at just about any electrical parts store
not radio shack, a commercial parts store
they are common to many items
just ask in the store for the switch that you require
on-off-speed control
or direction
when replacing the switch, just replace one matching wire at a time

You may have a stuck button so it is operating a signal all the time A CR2032 is better. Is a CR2025 the same as a CR2032? For as long as either fits in the battery compartment, the CR2025 and CR2032 may be used interchangeably with minimal effect although the CR2032 would probably last slightly longer simply because it has a higher capacity (mAh).
