If they are replaceable, you will be opening up the drill by removing the screws holding it together, and then you might see the brushes that need replacement. Know that although you can open most hammer drills, and you can replace the brushes in some, some you cannot reassemble, but you can surely try. I fix these myself, and my success rate is about 50 %. Yes. New bits will fit old Hilti drills. Old Hilti bits do not fit the new (last 15 years) Hilti drills.

I believe you are referring to the speed selection dial. For faster speed, rotate speed selection dial clockwise. Forslower speed, rotate dial anti-clockwise.

With hammer drills, there are usually 3 positions for operation. Position 1 - Drill only - drill rotates Position 2 - Hammer and Drill - Drill rotates and hammers Position 3 - Hammer only - hammer action It is important to read the instructions to activate the part to select position 1, 2 or 3. Sometimes, it is easy to move from position 1 to position 2. Sometimes it is easy to move from position 2 to position 3. Sometimes it is difficult to move from position 2 to position 3. When it is difficult to move from position 2 to position 3, you may need to rotate the chuck a little way before turning it to position 3.

If you are looking to change the keyless chuck to a keyed one, give it up. I cannot get the keyless chuck off my drill and I suspect it has permanent set loctite which would require heating the shaft and chuck. Disassembly would be required to apply enough heat to break the bond. For me I cannot justify time and trouble to disassemble and reassemble the gearbox on the drill. I have found hex or triangular drill bits, hole saws, and countersink tools that will not slip in a keyless chuck but... I still do not like those darn things.

Hammer drills usually are nonfunctional.
Turn your hammerdrill function off and you should have a smooth drill function. You're good to go.

If there is a directional switch that changes the drill between forward and reverse, and that switch is in the middle position, the drill will not move.
