Orange flame

A orange flame means that not enough air is mixing with the gas to produce a nice clean burning blue flame. Try cleaning out any deposits of grease or anything else that could be blocking the air pathway to the flame.

Unit ( model SR142gp

The pilot light should remain "ON" all the time. It is not intended to ever go off, unless you are not going to use the fryer for several months at a time. Then you can just shut off the propane which will shut off the pilot light flame. It does not cost that much to run the pilot light all the time. About one to two dollars a week.

My pilot light will not

Make sure the thermocouple is deeper into the flame of the pilot light. It needs to reach a high enough temperature to produce a high enough voltage to keep the pilot light lit all the time. I do not think that the main gas valve is bad at all.

I have a fm45esd natural gas fryer and i have flames comming out the front of the unit. any clues

The gas valve may be leaking gas out where it should not be leaking gas out. You may need a new gas valve. This could be a safety issue, not just with a fire, but a potential fire gas explosion. Please get it fixed ASAP.
