I think there is a shear pin in the drive to the blade. The drive shaft has a shear pin where it goes on the shaft. This pin is put there to break if you hit something instead of breaking an expensive shaft.

That is a big open-ended question... If money is no object buy an industrial machine with a phosphor bronze pump and a big industrial motor. Quite possible such a thing could be bought secondhand from a local dealer and it is likely it will take everything you could conceivably use it for, for the rest of your life and if there is a problem it could be infinitely repaired. Buying cheap and being prepared to replace annually is the other extreme option. In theory the more money you spend the better pump and motor you get and these are the important things but in reality high prices are asked for "wolves in sheep's clothing" - fashionably coloured plastic casings with gadgets hiding poor quality internals. In most areas there is a dealer in industrial pressure washers and vacuum cleaners, etc. that will also stock spare parts and carry out repairs. You won't do better than to seek a recommendation from the guy that does the repairs - the last thing you need is a mid-season breakdown and have to wait weeks for a spare part. Buying a brand and model that can be serviced locally is the key to satisfaction.
