Easy Heat Plumbing - Recent Questions, Troubleshooting & Support
I recently installed 4 easyheat AHB-019 cables on
each of those cables have certain temps they kick on at maybe they did kick on, heres an easier thing to do leave your faucet just barely trickeling a few drop of water thru them on the cold night saves money on electric as those cables are pricy on electric oh and open the faucet to trickle the closest to the well head hope this helps ya ps never insulate around the thermostats they will never have the right reading on temp as you are warming the thermo if the pipes are running thru the wall trickle your faucet instead really you must have just got this place is that right well the joys of owning a new home sorry but we all go thru it no big deal that's an easy fix
Can you wrap tape around pipes
Yes, you can use heat tape on pipes UNLESS they are plastic or PEX. Copper lines - no problem.Heat tape is used to keep lines from freezing, and generally they do a good job at it, IF you get it wrapped around the part that usually freezes. BUT please understand the design purpose of heat tape before using! For example: My kitchen has an overhang that extends about four heet from the foundation that the water lines run through. In -30 F weather, my water lines will freeze up. I initially wrapped heat tape on the lines below the sink and still had freeze up. So I relocated the heat tape to the crawl space and wrapped the pipe as close to the foundation as I could. That solved the problem.
How hot does the ADKS-400
it doesn't turn on until a freezing temp is reached and shuts off at when temp increases above freezing point. yes it is safe
My roof de icing wire
Hi,
You can terminate that wire by just making a good square cut across it and then totally covering the end with a good quality silicone caulk....clear will work the best...
Let it dry thoroughly...like 12 hours and then you'll be good...

Have hot/cold water pipes coming outside from
Insulation only slows down the transfer of heat (cold), it does not stop it. If it is below freezing and the water in any pipe is not moving, it will eventually freeze. Most major industrial supply houses like McMaster-Carr or Grainger in the US, carry pipe tracing tape. It comes in various lengths and you secure it to the pipe under the insulation, plug it in and many types have integral thermostats that keep the pipe above freezing. If you have a washing machine, you will have to consider the lines to the washer valves, both hot & cold and any other areas in the washer that may hold water like the pump and the discharge hoses.
Was this washer always outdoors?

1st You must know that you can attach the heat tape by spiral wrapping, or by straight run (in- line with the pipe); held temporarily with a few pieces of tape. Of course you will need to apply an insulating wrap (in either case).
The straight run gives the least heat per foot but covers more pipe. The tighter (closer) the spiral wrap of the heat tape loops, the more heat per foot but the shorter the coverage. If the pipe is 1/2" or 3/4" DIAM. then a straight run is sufficient. If 1" to 1 1/4" then a very wide spiral. If 1 1/2 to 2" then a closer loop spiral. In no case should the loops touch each other nor be closer than 3/4" to each other. And avoid having the heat tape cross itself at valves, elbows, etc. PLease note that this is all based on winter temps of 0 degree F. or above and using normal 1" THICK WRAP INSULATION. If you have temps down to -30 or so, then give minimum 2" thick insulation.
Good Luck Macgivor.
MY Easy Heat ADKS-500 100-Foot Roof De-Icing Cable
I wouldn't try to repair it, could cause a fire if repaired wrong. I would replace the whole thing.
they come from the factory rated for a certain voltage and ohms, if the voltage, amps, and ohms are not correct, it could cause the system to malfuntion and cause a fire
Pipes in stables freeze
Run a heat trace line along pipe and insulate to limit freezing. You can check a plumbing or electricial supplier for these supplies. You will need to tell them type of piping material for the right application for your water piping.
Also get some insulation used in unheated areas for more protection.
Frozen pipes, open faucets,closed valve from street. now what? ;

The most likely spot for a freeze in pipes are the following:
- Any outside wall with water pipes in it. (In my current house, the kitchen sink and the washer and dryer connections are on an outside wall
- The garage if it is unheated.
- The crawl space (Don't count on the pipes being insulated there)
If the water pipe in the garage from the source to the water heater is exposed and the pipe is not insulated, then it is very likely that it could freeze.
Things you can do.
- Inspect the plastic supply lines for the water heater, if they froze it is almost assured they cracked and will need repair.
- Insulate the pipes in the garage with 1" foam pipe insulation.
- Turn the water on for a couple of moments, see if you get anything from your faucets or hear water running somewhere else.
- Check the crawlspace for leakage/flooding.
Most likely, you will need to consult a plumber if you detect any leakage.
My heat pipe for my air conditioner is not warm at
It sounds like you are low on refrigerant. Call a professional to service the unit unless you have a gauge manifold and temperature correction chart to decide just how much R-22 or R-134A needs to go in the system. Unless you have friends in the business, you are looking at $150 to $250 for the service call.

How hot does this heat tape get up too?
Sounds like you are trying to hatch chickens. The heat tape is designed to keep pipes from freezing, and will not be warm enough for an incubator. Try a heating pad or electric blanket, or if you are really serious, you could just BUY an incubator

no the coating cannot be repaired, because the coating is heat resistant and anything u put on will not adhere or be heat resistant enough, a silicon auto sealant may last for while but not likely to last long, u cannot solder as to high a heat will ruin core, had a though there is a cold copper solder solvent for fusing copper pipes if u wrapped with this copper tubing and cold soldered it might work it works on hot water copper pipes. If u try this and it works please keep me posted on this my email is
