When you insert an SD card in the slot the tablet will *mount* it automatically. This means it connects to it and formats it and adds some files and folders so it can utilize it. Before you remove it you need to go to Settings>Storage>External SD and touch the *unmount* option. If you don't do this there is a chance the card can be corrupted and can become unusable. If the tablet said new SD card then you might have to go into Settings>Storage>External SD and touch the *Mount* option. If it's a new SD card chances are you didn't hurt it. But if it's a use one on which you had a lot of data stored and you didn't unmount it before removing it you could have damaged the file structure and your only option to get it back would be to put it into a card reader on a laptop or desktop and reformat it.

You need to install a PDF reader. PDF is copyrighted format. If it is an android device start the Google Play app to install adobe reader.

if the battery is old or has too many operating hours you need a new battery if it still gives you trouble try using it without the back on the battery

Hello there Given this tablet's quad core processor then the 1Gb of RAM and the 16Gb of storage, may be enough to write a book with an appropriate word processor package for Android, but you would probably be safer if you used a fairly large SD card (e 32Gb) to boost the storage, or to keep specifically for the book.
