Its a safety feature of the regulator. The regulator is designed with a pressure release valve. This has happened to me twice: once with a carbon dioxide tank for my kegerator and once on my propane stove. In both cases I left the regulator (designed with a max pressure rating of X psi) attached to a full bottle in the sun. The heat caused the pressure to exceed the limit of the regulator and the release valve popped. A welding supply store may be able to reset/replace the mechanism but in my case I just bought a new regulator for about $15.

I had the same exact thing happen after seven years. Probably the water flow sensor or flame detection thermocouple. Either will cause the gas valve to close with failure. Wrote to coleman to find parts. They are not available. But they offered me 25% discount on a new one. I took them up on it. Love the unit.

Does the low battery light come on straight away even though it is fully charged? My unit did this and I found the impeller for the pump stuck. Try taking off the filter off the end of the pump get a nail or long screw and spin / free the impeller and try and use the coleman again. If this works I suggest cleaning the unit as per the book with clr etc
