How do I replace the fuser assembly
Took a while to figure this out. I couldn't find a service manual for free online so I just had to sort it out on my own. You basically have to snap the sides of the printer off. First snap the front pieces off that run vertically along each side of the front. Then the whole sides. Then the matching vertical pieces along the back. Sounds easier than it is, but they really do snap off. Look for the places marked by little triangles and pry from those points first.
Once you have those pieces off you need to remove the back cover (there's a few screws). Then you need to remove the black plate running horizontally along the bottom of the back of the fuser. It has a couple pieces and two screws, mostly you just need to massage it off.. Then you need to remove the three gears from the left side of the old fuser (take a photo first), the one closest to the printer back is the longest the most difficult to get back on. It's not keyed, but you must put it on the same way it was before (need photo). Then pull out a couple screws and three wires and the old fuser comes right out.
Then put it all back together in the exact opposite order. Make sure that plate thing with two small posts fits into the two small holes on the front of the new fuser.
Took me over an hour, but 80% of that time was trying to get the plastic pieces off. I think these vague instructions could have cut down my time by half.
Good luck. It's really not that hard.
