No, the P-Touch is a heat sensitive tape media printer. You can't run cloth through it. Google 'embroidered name tags'. Then you can use iron on tape to glue them down.

They are built to shut off after about 30 sec or so if the iron is not moving and the iron is in pressing position (sole plate down). They shut off if they are not moving and standing with the sole plate vertical, in about 5 minutes. If you move the iron (like ironing) they reheat. If it doing something else the electronic control is defective. It is cheaper to replace than repair.
