Actually Beyerdynamic in Germany will NOT help you out.I need replacement foam pads for my DT 441. Beyerdynamic won't sell me some because there are authorized dealers in New Zealand. However, all of the authorized dealers in New Zealand can get only new product to sell and cannot source replacement parts.
Make sure the 1/4" plug you are using is a TRS connector, which has 3 separate partitions on the terminal plug. This looks like the following connector:
If you are using a Stereo TRS connector with your headphones, and it is an adapter, make sure the input of the adapter is also stereo, and not a mono 1/8" to stereo 1/4" adapter.

I am having the same problem but in the right ear cup. I did get it from USA and using it in India. It's been 4 months, I have contacted Beyerdynamic India Private Limited they told me to send the headphone for testing. Did you get it sorted out?
You are over driving the recorder because the input level is too high. There should be a volume or gain control on the recorder to cut down on the level.
The wires commonly tear inside the rubber insulation.
Only a handy, experienced cildl-solder technician could spot and repair this, so good luck. Your best and practical solution may be to buy a new set.

Each speaker works independently from each other. One speaker may use more low frequency tones than the other one.. Low frequency tones create a lot more noticeable vibration than higher frequency tones. You can reduce it by turning the volume down a little on the left speaker. It is possible that nuts came loose on the speaker.
