Issue with full PC restore on Vista ASUS G1 notebook
Where is the backup stored? Most OEM backups of the OS write to a partition on the hard drive, if you did a recovery with the DVD it may have overwritten the recovery partition, hence why the option is not available.
My laptop is great but
I have had exactly the same problem, and although I didn't suspect it, all my troubleshooting including reinstalling of drivers, trying a different USB port and changing the channel on the router failed to cure the problem, pointing to a hardware issue. Indeed, a new Wifi USB dongle proved to be the full solution. I confirmed my old dongle was faulty by plugging it into another PC. Original problem was transferred to new location, confirming donglewas bad.

Can I replace my usb ports
Yes, they can be replaced but if you don't have technical knowledge to dismount a laptop beter don't try to do it. You might end with a shoebox full of parts you don't know how to mount again but it should not be an expensive work for an experimented technician,
Computer say its always charging even when not on charger
Based on the symptoms I would suspect a failed lithium battery. Most people think they should keep their lithium batteries at 100% but that actually shortens the life (number or recharges). I always suggest that you should try and let your laptop run down to 50% before recharging. Leaving a laptop constantly plugged in results in the same outcome - constant recharging of small amounts so you can see that the 'life cycle' is related to the number of times you recharge and if you are constantly doing it then you will most likely be shortening the battery's useful life. Unfortunatley most laptops will not run without the battery so the user's only option is to run their laptops on battery and not plugged in to AC until at least 50% dissapation thus optimizing the battery.
Just in case you have not done this, try removing and reseating the battery. Jarring of the laptop can somtines alter a good connection but from what you said it is unlikely.

My computer all lights start flashing. i can't boot
Andy,
Check for bad battery as this is the likely culprit. All laptops require a functioning battery to power up. Years ago manuf. re-designed this because people were using laptops without batteries and would get micro-surges that trashed their mainboard so most if not all laptops require a good battery in place to power up.
Let me know if that does not work for you and we'll look at some other areas
