Hi Over time the inlet valve becomes partially
plugged, reducing the outlet pressure and reducing the water flow rate into the
icemaker. If the flow rate is too low then the water will gradually freeze in
the tube until it becomes blocked entirely. Many times low water pressure will
cause this. You can perform a taste. Get a piece of tubing and attach it to the
inlet valve. Run this piece to a container and see if you get any water while
the power is off to the valve. You might have a valve that is not shutting
completely off. Hard water might cause this. Killing the power to the valve
will make the valve inoperable. Actually the purpose of killing the power is to
see if the valve is allowing water to bypass even when there is no signal from
the switch to do so.Bad inlet valve could be the possibility. So it needs to be
ordered and replaced because the valve isn't sealing off properly and it's
causing the water to trickle through or drip through the fill tube sometimes,
then it freezes before it reaches the icemaker and over time it will clog up
the fill tube completely.
