I have a wtw6400sw and i'm getting the same f1 error code that alot of people are getting. even though its over 4 years old since it's a recall will whirlpool still fix it?

F1 is generally the control board.

OK, your unit is quite unique. this unit has a integrated control design that houses the main and motor control board. both are combined on the same board. this error code represents a failed Machine and motor control board. this single control board works as the main controller and, as the motor controller as well. This board has failed in your unit and, you will need to replace this board asap if possible.

Called 1-800-253-1301. Spoke to a woman named Valerie in customer service. She told me there was a quality issue associated with the F1 fault code and they would take care of the repair parts and labor at NO CHARGE!. My machine is 28 months old.

Well, you're not gonna like this, but here's the deal.

Remove the three screws on the rear of the control panel and lift it up. Disconnect the rubber hose on the right side of the gray control module and blow through it to make sure it is clear and not kinked. If this check is fine then your control module needs replaced.

Note that Maytag knows this is a fairly common problem. My washer failed 9 months out of warranty with this problem.

The only good news is that it is an easy, though expensive, replacement.
