I have a Canon camcorder MV600i. The problem is that although the cassette compartment pops up, it does not open, so I cannot retreive my cassette.

Tape mechanism problems can be quite complicated. This will require disassembling the camera to repair the tape mechanism and can be done fairly inexpensively. However, it's not a user serviceable problem and will need to be repaired by a qualified service technician.

My name is Rick and I'm a professional repair technician with over 20 years in the business and have repaired many of these. I'm semi retired and work from home with little overhead so I can keep repair costs low. If you decide to have the camera repaired, please click HERE for a directory listing that suits your needs.

I push the tape in as to load it and it immediately pops back out.

Your camera is experiencing condensation - your LCD should have a flashing image of a red droplet (this is a condensation warning). REMOVE THE CASSETTE to avoid damaging it.

Another cassette CANNOT and SHOULD NOT be loaded when condensation is detected.

Leave the cassette compartment open - its takes an hour until the water droplets evaporte. After the condensation warning stops flashing, wait for 1 more hour before resuming use.

Cannon ZR 60 camcoder Cassette copartment does not open

Loading unit problem is a common mechanical problem in camcorders. To remedy the problem, trained tech need to disassemble the mechanical system around the loading and replace few broken gears (plastics) and adjust it. Repair cost may run close to half of the new camcorder. If you really got to repair this camera for some sentimental reason or for special needs otherwise better to invest the repair charge into a new camcorder.

Cassette Jam

The most frequent cause of this type situation is not having a power source attached, or a depleted battery pack. Once the power source is available, some models require manually unlatching and opening the cassette compartment cover. When the cover is fully open, the videocassette will eject automatically. Please try the following procedures. 1. Attach the power source to the camcorder correctly or use a fully-charged battery pack. 2. Fully-open the cassette compartment cover until it stops while sliding and holding the OPEN/EJECT switch. The videocassette will eject automatically after a few seconds.

Cassette am

To unload the videocassette from the cassette compartment, the camcorder needs to be connected to a power source (either an electrical outlet or a charged battery). Please refer to the following instructions. Connect the camcorder to the power source or insert the fully charged battery pack, and then slide the EJECT switch to open the cassette compartment cover. The cassette compartment cover will open, and then the compartment will open automatically.
