When you turned off the water to remove the old faucet did you have to turn off the water to the whole house or was there cut off valves going to the tub. Did you install cut off valves for the tub and forgot to turn them back on before trying the new faucet. What type of faucet did you install? Whats the make and model. Its possible something got caught/dropped in the pipe when you were installing the new faucet and is now blocking the flow of water.

SOURCE: Moen Bath Tub Faucet

Hi varn4620,

I'm Harvey the Master Plumber.

Your question is: You had to replace the faucet in the tub due to a broken plastic piece in valve stem. Bought a Moen ripped the wall out and put new faucet in. Went good untill we turned the water on and the shower rained on us. Tightened everything you could find to tighten .Every time the water is turned on the shower rains. Can this be fixed or is the faucet broken?

Is this new faudet a single handle? If so I"ve had this experience also. Most of the time it's because the guts were not lined up properly at the factory. You may have to play with it a bit.
Turn off the water and take the handle off and remove the sleave, remove and rotate the guts. Try 90' at a time. Turn water on to try it. Useually one of the other 3 positions will be right. The correct position is there, but it may take time to find it.

SOURCE: just installed shower and faucet in bath tub when

Verify the height from the shower valve to the Shower head, the instructions specify the correct distance if it is too short the pressure could be getting up to the shower head.

Perhaps the water pressure it too high at the valve not allowing all the water down the faucet outlet, there are set screws on the sides of the shower valve to adjust the water allowed in the mixing chamber.

Something is restricting the water flow to the faucet, creating enough pressure to send some of the ater supply up to the shower.

I hope some of these ideas help

SOURCE: faucet issue

SOURCE: New faucet, sprayer hooked up right, no water going into hose?

check the sprayer handle by disconnecting and blowing into it and pressing sprayer handle and/or for possible kink at main body or hose by disconnected sprayer point hose into sink and turn on water. If no water the the diverter in main body is not working properly and needs to be reassembled or replaced

SOURCE: I just installed a Glacier Bay tub/shower faucet

Hopefully you still have the directions - the diverter isn't set correctly.

Installed a new faucet and no water comes out

Since your question is so vague (is it a shower, tub/shower, lavatory, kit. sink or laundry tub faucet) I'd have to say that the flow restrictor in the aerators or showerhead is clogged up. Just unscrew and remove and either clean aerator or sh.head out and/or remove flow restrictor permanently. If that doesn't work turn off water and disconnect supply tubes from faucet and run them into a bucket and turn water back on to check for volume. If you have plenty of water at supplies then remove faucet and take defective faucet back to where it was bought and get another one!

Set screw is stuck. Any suggestions on how to remove it to replace the roman tub faucet?

to replace the roman tub faucet you have to expose the faucet under the deck of the tub. Most of the time builders do not install a door to do repairs. So expose the underside of the deck of the tub, turn off the main water outside then cut the water pipe for the hot and cold water with a tube cutter. At this point take a sawall and place the blade so the side of the blade touches the bottom side of the deck.
and cut all the way though the body of the stem.

Do all three and your done with the hard part. Install your new faucet and enjoy.

Hope I was help to you Rich

Installed new tub/shower valve, water comes out of showerhead when water is turned on even though spout is open

the diverter valve is probably bad. put a new one in. the valve cuts off the water to shower, while running bath water.

Rusty water comes out of cold water faucet

Rust is usually a sign of galvanized pipe mixed with copper pipe incorrectly.Could be the pipe nipple used for the tub spout connection to the valve. You could change it to a brass nipple might be the problem
