Hello, Our Dometic Fridge Freezer door in our Caravan won't close anymore. We don't know whether it is a spring clip that has come off or what the problem is. Can you buy parts for these doors please? There was a little piece of plastic when I defrosted the fridge this morning around the size of your fingernail. you have to send the brand name and model number so i can help you.all that happens is the evapcoil in the freezer gets cold,the evap fan motor blows cold air from the freezer into the fridge side,depending on your model you could have a bad damper,this is a door that is in the fridge section,it opens and closes letting the air come in,try this,open the freezer door,if you don't hear the fan blowing you could have a bad fan motor,also touch your hand on the back inside wall of the freezer,if you have frost or like ice on the back wall you have a defrost problem,ice is biulding up on the coil and the fan can't blow the air over to the other side..if you need more help,do these tests and send the model number off of the machine and brand name,side by side or freezer on bottom,open the fridge door,look up on right hand side wall near ceiling or on ceiling,freezer on top look on left side in fridge section.

Check for long items, too big to fit in the fridge.

all it does is the evap fan blows cold air from the freezer into the fridge section and returns through the bottom air vent,so if there's ice there most likely one of the doors was left open,check the freezer for frozen water droplets on packages or on the walls and shelves of the machine,if you don't see that open the freezer door,if you don't hear the fan blowing you could have a bad evap fan motor.if the fan is blowing in the freezer from the bottom remove the second draw or bin and put your hand on the back inside wall of the freezer,if there's frost or like snow on the back wall you have a defrost problem,bad defrost thermostat,defrost heater,timer or board depending on what model you have,if the fan is blowing and you don't see any problems that i talked about you could have a bad damper,on some machines there's a damper door that opens and closes to let cold air into the fridge section,if it's bad it won't open and no cold air can blow in from the freezer,if you think the door was left open,remove anything that's in the way,in the freezer side and the fridge side,shut the machine down or unplug it and with a hair dryer melt out the ice,don't keep the heat in one place for to long,you can melt the vent if it's plastic or styrofoam,after you think it's melted out start the machine and put your hand up in the left hand corner in the fridge section and see if you can feel any cold air blowing in,there could be ice up there too,next time send the model number so i can look up your model,on a side by side you'll find the tag on the right hand side wall in the fridge up near the ceiling or on the ceiling near the light.hope this helps,if you have another fridge you could move the food and just shut the fridge down with the doors open and let it melt out on it's own overnight.good luck

I don't have a Thetford but my Dometic used to do that also. I went to the hardward store and bought velcro stick ons and that has worked great from me, even on some of the rough roads.

Check when you turn the control knob inside the fridge side that there is some form of resistance or at least a sweeping sound. The knob will always stop at both extremes but very often the linkage can come loose leaving all the cool air above in the freezer. if you can unplug the fridge and listen very closely to see if the deflection door is indeed moving. If you can get the cover off, grab your surgeons cap, a flash light and a long pair of needlenose pliers you may be able to clip the link back in place. Good Luck,Dana

yes you can.remove two screws from under one side pull it away slightly and it will come away.you will then have one housing on both sides left in the fridge wall,they will have a little pressure on them from the springs. just prise them away. you will need help to replace them, as you need pressure against the spring to keep the door closed. you can buy springs and housings seperately from camec there is left and right housings.give me a call if you need to ..
