Bought a used digimatic caliper 500 series at a garage sale. I need to know how to open it. I have used the round wheel thinking it would slide and it doesn't is there a trick?

There should be a screw in the top of the slide which controls the tension on the thumb wheel. If this screw is missing, that would be the problem. If the screw is present, tighten it.

I replaced my front caliper and now its sticking on and burning my brake pads off, what did i do wrong

Your best plan is to go back to basics. Raise the vehicle onto axle stands for safety and strip the caliper back off. Check the pipe is fitted correctly and isn't leaking fluid. Examine the pads to make sure they are the correct ones for that caliper and they are the right way round. Remount the caliper without the pads to check the body slides on the pins smoothly. Using a piston tool make sure the piston slides all the way in.
Remove the caliper and refit it WITH the pads. Refit the wheel. Don't lower the car. Get a helper to pump up and hold the brake pedal. Try to turn the wheel by hand, it shouldn't turn. Release the pedal. The wheel should turn freely. If it doesn't, you might need to bleed the entire system. Do opposite corners, Front right, rear left, front left, rear right. KEEP CHECKING the brake fluid reservoir doesn't run dry.

Just ran into the same problem. Bought a caliper at a garage sale and it needed new batteries. When i put them in it was reading .006. I held the M button down for 2 seconds and it reset to .000

Readout is flashing a series of dash marks, and will not stop. I just put in a new battery

Hold the origin button for greater than 1 second. You may need to use a point tool to push the button all the way down.

Bought model (I think this is model #) 29456 at yard sale; using it to heat garage -- do I need to vent? door open ok? or can I use ventless?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

Anything that burns produces Carbon monoxide. There is no way to physically vent the space heater but you can leave a side door open for air. The key is to notice the signs of nausea, the lack of ability to do things requiring manual dexterity / clumsiness, dizziness or a headache when your using the unit. Also... it is a good idea to have someone check on you about every 30 minutes if your working alone in a garage. Make sure they know how to turn off the heater and how to open your garage door. (just common sense stuff)

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

Vibration in rear of vehicle when braks are applied

I believe that the rear discs are warped or the tires are out of round when braking. More likely, the discs. --- The following are the instructions for replacing the front and rear pads for the front/back rotors. 1999-01 Grand Cherokee Front
  1. Drain 2?3 of the brake fluid from the front reservoir. Use the bleeder screw at the front outlet port to drain the fluid. If equipped with anti-lock brakes, relieve the system pressure.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Remove the wheels.
  4. Insert a small prybar through the caliper opening and pry the caliper (using the outboard brake pad) to bottom the pistons in the caliper bore. NOTE: This will back the brake pads off of the rotor surface to facilitate the removal and installation of the caliper assembly.
  5. Pry the caliper support spring out of the caliper.
  6. Remove both caliper slide pin bushing caps and slide pins.
  7. Lift the caliper from the anchor.
  8. Using a piece of mechanics wire, support the caliper so there is not tension on the brake hose.
  9. Remove the brake pads from the caliper. Fig. 2: Installing the inward brake pad on the front caliper pistons - 1999-01 Grand Cherokee 93026g92.gif
    To install:
  10. Position the brake pads onto the caliper.
  11. Position the caliper into place on the anchor.
  12. Coat the caliper slide pins with silicone grease and torque them to 21-30 ft. lbs. (29-41 Nm). Install the slide pin bushing caps.
  13. Install the caliper support spring in the top of the caliper under the anchor; then, install the other end into the lower caliper hole. NOTE: Hold the spring in the caliper hole with your thumb while prying the spring end out and under the anchor.
  14. Fill the master cylinder with fluid and bleed the brake system.
  15. Before driving the vehicle, pump the brakes several times to seat the pads.
  16. Install the wheels.

Replace bake pads on f 150 2006 front and back

Jack truck up, remove wheel, remove caliper slide bolts (12mm i think), remove caliper. caliper mounting bracket will stay on truck if you are just doing a pad slap, the mounting bracket comes off with two bolts (18 mm i think) remove old pads, compress caliper piston with channel locks or a c-clamp, replace pads, lube up caliper slides with dielectric grease , tighten slide bolts, replace wheel. proceed to other side. Then befor you road test pump the break pedal. Once ya get a look at it, its pretty easy to see what ya need to do. Front and rear ar pretty mush the same.

The battery compartment is on the front of the instrument. The cover is round and has some symbols that resemble arrows pointing down. Slide the round cover down to access the battery.

Brakes seize up and stay on after driving for a distance, especially in hot weather. They release when cooled down. Is this the master cylinder or calipers? Car is in good shape at 100 K. Garage kept all...

Jack car up, spin wheel, then apply brakes, and release and try spinning wheel again. If it doesn't spin just as easy, try cracking bleeder screw open, then try spinning wheel. If it spins easy after you crack bleeder screw, tighten bleeder back up & try same again. If same result, wheel spins when bleeder opened, then I'd replace the 2 front flex hoses that attach to calipers. If caliper doesn't release then you need to pull calipers and check if partially seized, or maybe slide pins that caliper moves on (that attach caliper to spindle) need cleaning and lube applied to allow calipers to move back & forth.

Hyundai coupe se 2ltr 2001 front wheel bearing ceased to brake disk

hiya this does sound iffy ? but b4 i comment /offer an opinion could you or your friend jack up the wheel in question that has had repair and look at how the brake disc is secured to the actual hub assy that wheel bearing is housed in ? also caliper? cracked?? is it now a new one? have never had problem renewing front or rear bearings in past using the correct tool/s a hydraulic press is the best method for removing excessive siezed components as for your friend now saying noise is from rear ? it may be pads worne or disc/s corrosion/scoured so investigate and update what you discover ? sounds like big hammer garage?
