Grease inside the Planetary Assembly (the shaft is tight fit to the Planetary
plate at the factory and is not designed to be taken apart, so do not use
any hard object such as a screwdriver to separate them) over times can
turn to liquid and leak down the bowl. Removing the Planetary assembly
and adding Kitchenaid Food Grade Grease is not a task for a novice.
To properly remove the Planetary Assembly, you must work from inside
the Transmission Housing: Remove in this order: Retaining Clip(25), Bevel Gear(21),
Retaining Pin(18), Worm Follower Gear(19). Use a soft mallet to tap out the Shaft
of the Planetary Assembly(15). Re-assemble it in the reverse order.
Note: The Bevel Gear is extremely tightly fit on the shaft, and a pin punch
must be used to remove from the shaft.

SOURCE: Kitchenaid stand mixer oil leak

Hi. The grease that your mixers are lubricated with has reached a stage where the oil is leaching away from the grease. All your machines need this grease changed. Shell Darina EP-2 or Chevron FM ALC EP-2. These machines need to be internally cleaned and re-greased. It's important to remove the oil from any place that it drips. The planetary gear must be removed, cleaned and re-greased also. It's a messy job, but you can do it yourself if you're familiar enough with machinery. If not, then a suitable service outlet can easily do it.

If you choose to do it, go to the Kitchenaid website and locate the parts files for your particular model, these drawings will assist greatly with the project. If you can, take digital photos at every step of dis-assembly as a reference for re-assembly. If this solution assists you, please rate it. Good luck! ricardok45

SOURCE: Mixer leaking oil

I have the same problem. It is not oil, but the oil residue from the grease that surrounds the gear box. There is a very heavy grease that is wrapped around the gears. I am assuming that the leak is the broken down grease that seeped out from the gasket. Here is what I did: Remove the chrome ring(pound down on it gently, it will come off very easily) remove the pin on the shaft. Clean all the oil out of the assembly. Remove the motor cover. Remove all the screws from the large gear(about 5 of them)this will allow ou to pull the top of the mixer off. There are 2 screws holding the band around the mixer, remove them. There are 4 screws holding the top of the mixer to the bottom, remove them. You should be able to lift the top of the mixer off. Remove the black gasket, inspect it for cracks. I cleaned mine and put the same one back on. I thing all that was wrong was the screws were loose letting the grease leak out. It runs fine now. no leaks yet. You will find all the diagrams at this web site: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partsearch/model.aspx?model_id=239812

SOURCE: how do I add oil to my kitchenaid stand mixer?

if the oil is black or dark green this is the transmission grease. There is plenty in the case don't worry. You may have a cracked transmission case or a bad gassket. I think the most likely thing is a loose screw or two. Take the trim band off, 1 screw. Then take the 4 screws that hold the cover on. You can now lift the top and take a look for the sourse of the leak

SOURCE: Kitchenaid Mixer leaking oil

Hi Tim. Don't try to pour anything into the side openings, these openings are for the electrical brushes. You didn't state what model you have so my help is limited. Goto www.kitchenaid.com and click on the customer care tab. Enter your mixer's model# into the search window. Look for a parts catalog for your mixer. If there is one, download it.

Your mixer uses grease to lubricate it. If it's leaking oil, the oil and old grease must be removed and replaced. Chevron FM ALC EP-2 is a "Food Grade" grease, use it to replace the old stuff. The transmission housing and Planetary assembly will have to be removed to accomplish this. It's a messy, but necessary task. Once completed, run the mixer for a few minutes each week to keep the oil suspended in the grease, this will extend the life of the new lube. Good luck!

SOURCE: Kitchenaid stand mixer leaking oil

I called the 800 service number when mine did the same thing. They advised to:

1. Use the processor more frequently to avoid this in the future; and
2. To fun the motor on speed setting "10" for two minutes.

A harmless vegetable grease, normally solid, has separated due to infrequent use and leaked a bit ( a few tablespoons in my case). Running the motor on high speed causes it to re-solidify, they said. Wipe clean. Forget about it.

I have an oil leak at the front of the mixer

Hiya,

I am sorry to hear you are having problems with your mixer. To stop the oil leaking from the front of the mixer, you just need to remove the drip ring and give it a good clean underneath and this should stop the oil from leaking out. Below I have added a link and if you watch on the timing "1.28" you will see how to remove the drip ring.

My kitchenAid stand mixer is leaking oil. How do I

referring to:

http://shared.whirlpoolcorp.com/assets/pdfs/literature/Repair%20Part%20List%20-%204176924.pdf

You can see that there are 5 screws holding the upper and lower gearcase together. They pinch the gasket number 26 together and prevent the oil and grease from leaking. Remove the chrome ring by prying gently around the ring. You will see the 5 screw heads. Tighten them and the leaking will stop.

If it still leaks then you may have to replace the fiber washers number 29 which will involve disassembling the lower gear case.

Kitchenaide mixer...leaking oil underside of

KitchenAid uses a grease in the transmission, and anything that may drip from the transmission will be very low in quantity.

If you want to disassemble, clean, and re-grease to remove the liquid part that has weeped out of the existing grease, do so with a food safe grease.

My Kitchenaid Artisan Mixer is leaking oil or grease

Your kitchenaid mixer is meant to leak a tiny amount of oil around the rim of the planetary gear on the front of the machine. This is just a means of lubrication. If however you are getting alot of oil coming out of the sides of the unit, the transmission gasket may be worn or broken if this is the case it will have to be replaced. part number for the gasket is 4162324. If your getting alot of oil from the center of the unit this could indicate worn or broken seals. there are 4 located inside the unit, and would need to be dismantled in order to replace. part number for all four is 3180163. If you are leaking alot of oil or grease continued use of the mixer might cause it damage. Hope this helps

Thanks

My stand mixer was stored on its side and leaked oil.

Called the Kitchenaid toll free number and found a local authorized repair center. Not a fixya solution, but at least a solution.

The mixer leaks oil around the shaft. Is this a user repairable problem? How do I find service centers?

Leaking of oil in a stand mixer is not necessarily indicative of a large problem.

Kitchenaid stand mixers are overpacked with oil to last the lifetime of the motor. If the motor sits idle for some time (is not used), the oil may begin to drip from the gears and settle. Oil leakage may primarily be seen from around the beater shaft or planetary action.

A stand mixer can lose up to a 1/4 cup of oil before it needs to be serviced.

It is recommended to run the mixer on speed 10 for 2 minutes in order to redistribute oil back into the motor. In order to prevent future occurences, this is recommended to be done every 3 weeks if mixer is not being used.
If you still feel as though the mixer is in need of service, you may locate Kitchenaid certified repair centers through the following link: http://caservice.kitchenaid.com/

Found this,may be helpful.
Why do I see oil leaking from the beater shaft of my stand mixer?
Some KitchenAid® stand mixers that are not used very often or have been tipped may experience slight oil leakage from the shaft or hub attachment. To avoid the oil leakage, KitchenAid suggests that you run the mixer weekly for short periods of time. Generally, the mixer may lose approximately X cup of oil before repair is necessary. The oil used is FDA approved and is not harmful to consume, should any get into the food that you are preparing.
