I have a RB215LABP/XAA the freezer will not freeze, lowest temp is 41 deg. The fridge works good, but builds up a lot of water under the crisper then freezes. this unit is about 3-4 yrs old. I bought the extended warranty, and Lowes sent me to a local repair shop and he came out looked at the fridge and said the defrost board is out. they then called back and said no parts available for this model and set me a pro rated check about 450.00 less than the ripoff price. Any how, the only control board is in the back, does this single board control the freezer/fridge? if so will this cause my problem or is it a bad sensor? Oh, the freezer will ice up in the back but only at the vent ports. any help would be appreciated.

SOURCE: inside fan area freezing up (no defrost?)

hi there this is a common fault you need to replace the evaporator cover with the new modified one which has a large heat sink around the fan to stop iceing up also you will need to replace the thermal fuse and the defrost sensor.

hope this is of some help

SOURCE: samsung fridge RS2630SH, side by side, icing up on freezer.

You have to pull out the sensor from the board and test with tester, both sensor should read the resistance of 10,000 to 20,000 ohms. The reading that you show is very low it means that the thermistor is out of range and need replacement.

SOURCE: SAMSUNG RS253BAWW NOT WORKING

the ice maker wont cycle untill the temp of the ice is around 10 degrees so if the freezer is at 15 or 20 due to some other malfunction then you will see the maker full of ice but it wont harvest and make another batch. so you could have a sensor bad, control malfunction, refrigeration issue, compressor, defrost system malfunction(you mentioned ice build up)

SOURCE: Side by side refrigerator freezing up

inside the fridge there is a cold radiator which has filled with condensation or water from freezing it when say cleaned out the fridge this can be remedied by letting set for a few days outside in the sun so that water can evaporate properly or you can call a repair man and he can pull out frost radiator inside and defrost all the water out by dry wet vac and heater dryer

ice builds apon ice even a little bit can build up to a mountain same thing happended to my top end whirlpool i pulled the metal grate and defrosted this by pouring tap water over the ice which it went down the defrost tube outside water drain this helped greatly havent had trouble with ice since

SOURCE: fridge condensation - freezer thawing

OK now I'm wondering are theses numbers your getting 4 -9 the actual temps of the refrigerator and the freezer? and do they feel this cold and correct to you? I know the refrigerator side shouldn't be below 34 or so and definitely not below 32. If this is correct and the numbers are not settings but temps. (Now if you have a touch pad its electronic. If it has knobs it has a separate defrost and thermostat and are electro-mechanical)
If electronic Your control board and possibly defrost control are out.
It would more likely be the sensors going to the board(s) It will both sensors have the possibility of causing your problem. 1 will control the run of the compressor (and this one could and probably is connected to the inside coil) and 1 will control the air damper tween the refdg and freezer compartments, and may turn on the inside fan operation too.

(this would be my first suspect if these are degrees numbers). Look at the thermostat control see if it is attached to the indoor coil (usually the tube leavign the indoor section. If its not attached its not sensing the coil temp and when goes into defrost wala its not senmsing temps like its designed to do. Look for a broken clip or possible a plastic wire tie that holds this sensor in place.

Please get back to me with what you see - find on this look up.

Amana fridge model number Arb1914cw is not cooling. Freezer is working fine

Bottom freezer fridges are especially susceptible to
  1. Dust build up on the condenser coil that impedes heat transfer to the outside from inside the box
    • Remove the (bottom) footplate by grasping outside edges and pulling/levering out and popping it free.
    • Use vac crevice attachment and coil brush to clean away all dust from the coil and foot plate.
    • Replace plate and allow 24 hours for inside temp to stabilize.
    • Adjust top temp setting if needed to maintain safe temp level.
    • Repeat semianually or annually as scheduled maintenance--depending on the dustiness is fridge's location.
  2. Airflow blockage through the crispers and meat keepers.
    • Remove crispers and meat keeper as well as glass cover shelf.
    • Find cooling passages between crispers and at midline of meat keeper.
    • Remove any buildup of air blocking debris.
    • Wipe up fridge box floor beneath meat keeper.
    • Reinstall glass shelf, meat keeper, and crispers.
    • Check perodically for poor temperature/moisture keeping in crispers and for water pooling on fridge box floor as signs of blocked air flow through criispers and meat keepers.

Samsung rf217acpn/xaa fridge not staying cold and ice build up.

Be sure the drain is clear these are well known for drain blockage. the area behind the shelves is where you would find the evaporator and drain hole.

Rb215labp Samsung fridge with freezer on bottom isn't working correctly. Fridge got cold after I defrosted it but only last 24hrs or so and keeps accumulating frost/ice on the back. Freezer doesn't hardly...

This is a twin cool unit. refrigerator works independently from freezer unless compressor failure so compressor is not the problem. you may have a defrost problem or an evaporator fan failure in the freezer easy way to check open door hold the door switch and listen for fan draft if you hear it is good is not you have a bad fan or a bad door switch. the refrigerator has a defrost problem usually is the sensor you try that the other thing can be the heating element but rarely goes bad.

I have water, about 2 inches in my veggie crispers daily. The freezer is keeping things frozen. Why do I have soon much water?

Hello,

Most times this is a bad cold control, but there are other things to check for. Make sure the condenser fan is working and the coils are not covered with dust. A separated heat exchanger ( small capillary tubing soldered to the large suction line ) can separate from one another and make the fridge run too long. - tape tubing back together. A poor working evaporator fan motor could also make the fridge run too long and freeze - replace the fan motor. An inefficient compressor or refrigeration system could make the fridge run too long and freeze - have a service tech check this out. A misaligned control settings, make sure the air damper and cold control have not been bumped and are out of normal settings. Stuck open air diffusers or air dampers are becoming more and more common for allowing too much air to be blown into the fresh food section and freezing things. On all frost free fridge's the freezer temp air is blown into the fresh food section, if you have "easy" to freeze items ( eggs, veggies in water, etc ) in front of or under where the freezer temp air comes out, they could freeze - store them in a different spot. Doors not closing properly making the fridge run too long is something else to check for.

Good luck in solving the problem....

Hello I have a GE Profile with Brita refrigerator bottom freezer and it suddenly stopped cooling in the refrigerator portion. The freezer works but very weakly. Ive unplugged it, let it go for one hour,...

The drain is frozen up. The fan what provides the cooling air for the fridge is stuck in the ice. Remove the vegie crisper and pop the bottom under the crisper s out. Also remove the Styrofoam plate. You will see the problem right in front of you. Use a hairdryer to get rid of the ice build up. Good luck

Food freezes in the fridge part even at the highest

If it is freezing, either you need to turn both temp down to 2nd to lowest setting. Cold air does sink, so that is why crisper gets colder. There is a flap and vent for air between the fridge and freezer. The flap can get stuck in one direction, or the acutator that moves it can become faulty. A leaky door seal will also make the opposite compartment colder.

Amana refrigerator top freezer going out; water under crispers

you are right about the cause of water in the fridge - blockage in the drain. i'v never met this caused by ice but it is possible.
with the freezer, the cause of the fault is the fan not working - probably jammed with ice. take back panel off inside freezer and check for ice build up. if loads of ice thgen defrost system has failed. you can do a temporary repair by melting the ice off with a hairdryer

Frozen Veggies in Crisper Drawers and Water under Drawers

water under the crisper doors is pretty common, all you have to do is raise the front legs of the refrigerator, Refrigerators have a heater in them that keep everything from freezing, if it wasnt for the heater then it would just be a freezer, now alot of these samsungs have 2 evaps, so if you get a warm fridge, its prob. because a sensor is out or the heater is out and there is ice buildup inside the unit preventing either the fan from turning, or just blocking air flow, but for the water, just raise the front legs and there is a drain in the back that it will go into from now on
