My remote no longer works with my tv. I think its the ir sensor but I don't know what it looks like to replace it. I have another tv of the same model for parts and need to know what the ir sensor looks like so I can replace it. I know its not the remote because I've tried 4 diffrent universal remotes that work on other tvs in the house.

Thanks for the info. It helped me to eliminate the ir as being the problem. Unfortunately I know nothing about the processor controllers. I'm pretty good with fixing things but televisions are not one of those things. Maybe if I can find a pic of what it looks like, I can take it from the other set that I'm using for parts.

You can confirm your remote's IR output by pointing to the phone camera and if the remote works it will be seen as a flash on the camera. Now after confirming the remote then the the IR detector on teh TV can be checked. It is always mounted on the FRONT panel and is a small DIODE mounted to face the IR panel ****. It is easily seen and can be checked using a multimeter . In the Ohmn's range in one direction a flash of light will increase the flow and continuity when the probes are held across the diode. If teh IR is good then it is a fault on the processor controller.

The processor IC is the one with the most number of pins and is the controller to all teh functions. The IR will be connected to this IC.

The IR receiver inside the television is becoming intermittent and needs to be replaced. You might also check the connections on the receiver small circuit board for cold or loose solder joints.

My tv control doesn't work and i put new battery's in and that didn't work either

There's a quick test you can do to test the functionality of the remote to make sure it isn't the TV's IR sensor that's broken. To perform the test all you need is the remote and a digital camera (cell phone cam works too). Take the remote and look at the IR "eye" through the camera's screen. Don't actually take a picture simply use the camera as you would a magnifying glass. While looking at the IR eye press a few buttons on the remote. If the remote is working you should see light coming out of the remote. Our eyes cant see the IR light but the camera can. If the remote doesn't light up then the remote is at fault. You can replace your remote on many websites for somewhere in the 20 - 50 dollar range.

http://www.replacementremotes.com/

Here for example, you need to input your TV model number and it will tell you what remote you need with pictures. Then, once you are sure that is the remote you want, you can order right from the same website.

Hope that helps!

There is a quick test you can do to figure out if the IR transmitter on the remote is broken or if the TV's IR sensor is at fault. Using a digital camera (cell phone works too) set up a picture of your remote's IR transmitter. DO NOT TAKE A PICTURE. Simply look at the sensor through the camera's screen. Now while looking at the screen press a few buttons on the remote. If you (through the camera's screen) see a red light coming from the remote, then the remote is fine. As far as getting it repaired, you can look for a TV repair shop in your local yellow pages. Call a few and ask for a quote.

I have a 60 inch lg tv. The remote just stopped working Put in new batteries. Tv button lights up on remote but will not turn tv on.

Let me know model number of your 60 inch LG tv to find out possible cause of no remote operation.
I do not think that IR receiver is bad in your tv. Regarding dusty IR receiver lens, you can confirm it by sending remote signal by very close distance to tv.
There are few other possibilities of no remote operation problem instead of bad IR receiver.
