I was programming the new remote to a new TV insigna. All of a sudden I get scan channels and it seemed to lock up, I can't go forward or back???

It doesn't scan. This is a very basic, $8 cheap and nasty, basic remote stolen from a motel or hotel.

Try to reprogram the remote

Hi, you need to de-activate the "programming channel control lock" option. You can see instructions in the manual for the remote. They are as follows:

1. On the remote control, press CBL once; It will blink once, Press and hold SETUP until the CBL key blinks twice.
2. Enter 9 7 3. The CBL key will blink twice.
3. Press CH- once. The CBL key will blink four times.
   Now the remote control will provide TV and VCR channel-control capabilities while in the TV mode.

Codes listed in my manual for White Westinghouse are 0169 or 0003 or 0014 or 0043. Are yousure though there isn't a flip down panel somewhere which gives you the option to access "enter"

Try pressing the MTS button on your remote while on the channel that does not have audio and select stereo. Most likely this will be set to SAP (secondary audio programming) and there is no SAP programming on that show. This is not something that could be avoided. It was during the channel scan, it locked in the SAP audio broadcasts for some reason.

If you have tried locating your tv type in the back of the manual that came with the receiver and can not locate it then chances are that the remote does not ssupport your TV. You can try finding the code by doing a power scan as follows to see if one not associated with your tv will work: With the TV on press and hold the TV button on the top left of the remote until all buttons light up across the top. Now preess the small red tv button-the topTV button on the left of the remote should stay lit. Now press the channel up button slowly until the tv shuts off. If it does press the channel down button and then the channel up button. The tv should now turn on. If it has press the pound sign and release. The tv button will flash three times. Go to the Menu setting, and do a auto channel scan, it will automatically program it to NOT skip 3.

try settings and the set all data to factory default or restore to factory settings, then you my start new installation. Jkahangwa

Is there a way to unlock the satellite setting? no. Will we have to sign up for satellite for a month or so, so that we can unlock it? yes I do not know about your place I stay in INDIA & here unless you subscribe you can not see cable channels. Or are we just out of luck on this?
