Is there a fault?? All UL listed generators including Kohler are required to lockout on a fault on shut down. This really sounds like a problem with your 2-wire auto start connection between your automatic transfer switch and genset. RDT model automatic transfer switch it is the 2 middle wires on the green connector and terminals 3&4 in the generator. close to run and open to shut down. Any open at any time will cause the unit to shut down. The 12 will shut down instantly upon an open because your 5 minute cool down is built into the transfer switch.
HI,
The problem as stated here is "my gen starts and runs for 1 min or so then dies restarts then dies again and again. if i start it under load ( turn on air con) it will run for 10 min then die allen"
I feel the problem is with the propane or Gas pressure and delivery.
The Kohler Gas kits (Secondary regulators) installed are IMPCO/GARRETSON Model KN, LOW PRESSURE AND HIGH FLOW / VOLUME Units.
Max pressure should be 7~11 inches of water column or 27millibars or 2.7kPa.
The pressures should be checked and adjusted accordingly.
When the genset is started under load, it would run for about 10 mins and then shut off again means that the initial high vol / flow allow it to run for the 10 mins as far as the AC compressor demands current, and as soon as it switches off,or the load released from the AC, excess gas or the high flow and pressure causes the secondary regulator to lock and shut down all flow to the engine.
This further results in the KOHLER giving UU (Under voltage) or UF (Under frequency) fault codes. This is basically a fuel pressure problem.
Summary: Check & adjust gas pressure inlet to the genset Max: 2.7 kPa (27 Millibars)
this should sort your problem.
