The engine in this machine seems to be powerful. If you can remove the belt from the pulley that drives the blade. Try turning the pulley buy hand. If it turns tight or not at all this is your problem. The unit that is the pulley to blade assembly is seized or ready to seize. Sometimes they are designed to be taken apart and repaired, and sometimes they are not. Did you check for a grease fitting within the pulley to blade unit?
I would like to hear how this works out for you. Best of luck.

Do you have the belt diagram for a swisher 44" 10.5 hp pull behind? Just put new belt on, engaged blades and it started smoking then broke. I'm assuming it was too tight. Is there a tension control?

There have been issues with the bearing and the idler pulley on these machines. Here is a parts break down: http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-model/Swisher-Parts/Tractor-accessory-Parts/Model-T11544/3291/1500230/P0708055/00004

I got alot of vibration when i engage the blades on my 44 inc swisher rough cutter

I had the same problem twice. The first time happened when the blades were not swinging freely because they got gummed up with grass. So make sure your blades pivot easily.

The second time happened when the nuts came loose from the blade driver (the part underneath the deck that the large bolt goes through to hold on the blade assembly). I had taken the Swisher to a small engine repair place for servicing. They removed the blade assembly to sharpen the blades while it was there but put the old lock nuts back on without using any Locktight, so the nuts started to come off while I was cutting. Unfortunately, I did not notice this until after the blade driver got very loose and then got reamed out by the wobbling of the large blade assembly bolt. I had to replace the blade driver and its bolts and nuts.

My swisher zt blows the fuse every time i engage the blades...can get the engine to run and drive. problem is only when i start the blades. any ideas?

Check the all wiring from the engage blade button back to the electric clutch for worn spots that may be grounding out on the frame.

Airens Zoom 1944 ZTR Blades Slow Down In Bahaia Grass

You mention many PM issues but do not mention a blade sharpening. I don't get on my ZTR without a freshly honed blade installed. "That's" what cuts bahia grass...the blade. You can put all the horsepower you want behind the lade but if you're trying to cut grass with a 2X4 it rips more than cuts grass.
