We are trying to replace the ice maker filter on a Maytag mf2557hes. Where is it located? Does this Maytag Refrigerator have a filter?

Likely you'll need to disinfect the feed line and internal tubing to the icemaker. Plenty of how to DIY, search "disinfect refrigerator water line".

Is the inlet water valve ok? Does it have a water filter that may be clogged?

According to your user's manual, "If water flow to the ice maker or dispenser decidedly decreases or if an objectionable taste or
odor returns,change the filter sooner than
recommended."
"Leave the refrigerator door open while removing and installing filters or plugs; this will prevent water
from flowing through the system and running into
the fresh food compartment.

need to replace the water soleinod valve it's located under around the compressor section usually it's a blue color twin relays one for the water dispenser and one to the ice maker...good luck

Can be faulty control panel causing these.

Most like the water control valve on rear of refrigerator that controls the water to the ice maker has failed. Fill the ice maker with water and see if the ice maker will freeze and dump cubes. If yes water valve if no the ice maker. Rate me, I will need to hear back from you because I would like to know if this will get you going. Your filter is clogged. Replace the filter in the refridge side, it is located on the top right hand side.
