One possible problem is the voltage regulator is out. To test this, start the engine and put a d.c. volt meter on the battery, if the voltage readout decreases as the mower runs, replace the regulator
its probably in your ingnition switch, grab the switch and turn it right the turn key I had the same problem and that fixed it. It also wasnt starting and it was the same problem the switch is lose.
