On my Amana ABB2524DEW frig the ice maker is not working. It made a few ice cubes and then stopped. We are renters and the frig was already installed when we moved in. Ideas?

I don't think your ice maker was the issue sounds like it's not cold enough to make ice in your freezer get a thermostat and see if you are maintaining temps between 0-10F if not you are slowly losing freon somewhere

If when your ice bin is pulled out it drags ice cubes from top of bin as I understand I would think that the sensor that tells the ice maker is not responding correctly. As I remember your model a PSS26MSRSS Profile/Artica has electronic Ice Makers that I hate and I think most people will agree that anything on a refrigerator electronic is a big mistake. All refrigerators have their problems but the electronic controlled models have so many complaints! Now I also noticed you did not confirm your model number so I need to ask is your model the PSS26MSRSS Profile? This is a lot of writing if I happen to be quoting a different model than yours, Thanks Sea Breeze

Either the switch in the ice maker is stuck keeping the valve open or the valve has stuck. Unplugging the frig will tell you which it is. If the water stops when the frig is unplugged it is the switch. If it does not then it is the valve.

Whats happening is the ice isnt freezing all the way. Try cleaning your condensor's under the frig.In Hotter weather when condensor's get filled with dust it causes the frig to cycle to ofeten. In turn your cubes aren't freezing all the way.

Normally, the ice "cubes" are crescent shaped. The most likely cause for "crushed" ice is that the ice maker isn't getting enough water on its refill cycle after ejecting the tray. Becuase there isn't enough water, the ice looks crushed...it's actually shattered.

Check the water inlet and chute to the ice maker. Sometimes they freeze and have to be manually defrosted. A hair dryer will do the trick. Also check the water chute and be sure it isn't partially frozen.

Start there...if no luck you could also have a failing water filter or sticky water solenoid valve.

check the flow from the water line of the house to the water valve of the frig not connected to the valve it should fill a large container fairly quickly
if it does the problem is with the water valve of the frig
if it does not fill the container fairlly quickly then the problem is the plumbing of the house to the frig valve

check the water valve on the back of the ref. it sends water to the ice maker and water in the door one can work and the other one not
