If the code exists (and it's very likely) you can find the code and programming instructions in the remote's user manual. Usually the user manual for electronics is a complete joke...but not this time!
The manual includes what appears to be EVERY known code, listed by brand name. The only listing under DVD Player that mentioned "Curtis" was code 1087
If that doesn't work, I'd recommend the programming directions for scrolling through every possible IR code the remote is capable of...just in case.
The link for the manual can be found here:

Let us know if this helps (or not)! :)
Thanks for your attempt to help :) Of course I read the manual and tried all possible codes before I start asking for help. The code 1087 stands for Curtis Mathes, which is completely different manufactor, then Curtis. I tried this code anyways, alone with many others.
I contacted customer service of both Curtis and Shaw with the same question. Shaw told me that this player is not compatible with that remote. And Curtis said that there is no code and it will only work with original remote. Which is a joke! It has such a little range, that you have to get up and stand directly in front of DVD player and then it would respond.
Anyway, after all of this and when couple of days later it started to skip videos, it was time to return it.
Great tip: you can get rid of that ANNOYING BLUE LIGHT that lights up the dvd tray without damaging dvd player! All you need is a piece of black electrical tape to cover it. There is only one light and it's located on the left side of the tray.
