Change you usb port or replace the smartdisk's usb cable, probably the current one if broken. Also restart the pc whilst the smartdisk is connected. It shd be recognised now.

My smartdisk Photobank PB80 dont work on windows 7 64-bit. What do I do?

I am responding to you via my laptop running Windows 7 64-bit and my SmartDisk Photobank is fully operational.

This solved my related problem...and it may solve yours...please let me know if it does...

I had a similar problem (probably caused by deleting files within the device folders on my PC) and have searched tirelessly for a solution and had pretty much given up until I stumbled upon a link to the site below.

http://www.box.net/shared/i8dknblsuy#/shared/i8dknblsuy/1/25549066/265225700/1

SmartDisk_FAT32_tool.exe (392.0KB).

(Sorry don't know how or indeed if 'allowed' to attach files etc.)

I was dubious at first with so many previous false dawns and especially with concerns about security. Although I can't personally vouch for the site, the link or the downloads integrity, McAfee gave the site and links a 'green' bill of health, the laptop is still functioning fine and as it should (nothing malicious detected by various security software such as McAfee and Spybot S&D etc and most importantly the SmartDisk PhotoBank is once again fully operational; all in an instant with no ill-effects or anything untoward occurring.

I do not have the instructions on how to use my USBFLB120 Smartdisk. Does this require a power source?

This don't require power source it will get all the power from the USB where you will connect it , this is a plug and play device.

Drive is not recognized by MacBook when connected to USB port. Problem? Solution

Great little drive - I have one and it's super convenient for taking on road trips ..
One suggestion - can you see the drive when you plug it in and open Disc Utility on the MacBook? If you can, then proceed to format the drive as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" - you will lose any files you have on there, but it sounds like possibly you haven't yet used the drive?
If you have files on there that you don't want to lose, then I wonder if the drive was previously used with a PC? If so, transfer all the files back to the PC and try reformatting the drive with the MacBook as I described, so as to retain the files temporarily on the PC ...
Hope this helps! Feel free to repost with more details ...
It would be good to verify that the drive actually works by trying it with any other computer, Mac or PC ...

You need drivers for USB, if you remember when you bought smartdisk you got the installation disc, that you now need for a new computer.

I have an 120gb exteranl smartdisk firelite that will not mount. I have tried diffrent cables and have repaired my permissions on disk utility (i own a power book mac). Any ideas?

The operating system should automatically recognize the drive.
Take your drive to Radio Shack, along with the cables you have tried.
It is possible that you are using the wrong cable.
Another thing you could try is plug it into another computer. If it works on someone else's computer and not yours, you'll know that you have a problem with your operating system.

Hard drive turns on when connected via USB but is not recognized but computer nor can it be seen by explorer! Is there something that I can do to reformat?

try it, right-click on my computer icon, manage, storage, disk Management. See if it appear, if yes, try to change its letter by clicking right and selecting "change driver letter and path". Be careful, do not change the system driver letter.
