Both my washer and dryer just "quit" within a few days of each other. Washer model #GVW9959kQ2. Dryer #GE9868KQ3. The panel light on top would not even light up to get a diagnostic code. We checked the breakers, hoses etc. and can not see obstruction. Is the repair sound like something we can do?

This error relates to the motor drive. Plug off the wall, open up behind, look for broken belt. If the belt is good its the motor brushes. Secure connections to the motor, look for loose wires.....

SOURCE: Our whirlpool washer gvw9959kq2 won't drain.

Remove the front panel and the hoses will be accessible. Removing the wash plate is not advised unless you are prepared to replace seals.

I have a Frigidaire front loading washer, model FTF530FS3. The dryer that is stacked on top of it just quit. I have discovered that the new model of the dryer for this type, now called Affinity is slightly...

I would bet the manufacturer has an adapter for just this kind of problem. I did an installation on a stacked unit with a similar situation and there was an offset angle piece that attached the base of the dryer to the top of the washer. The front had a molded plastic piece to allow the dryer to rest on the front of the washer. Hope this helps

How it works: Late model Ge top loading washer

The late model top loading GE washer is much different than it's original models that were so much more dependable than these newer ones are. To access the innards you must forst remove the front panel. Older models had the top pop up first but these newer models have the top bolted down. To get the top up you must first remove the front panel by using downward force on the top between the tiop and the front panel. It is not easy even for eperienced techs but cuss it a minute and it will come off. Once it is off you will notice the washer has an elecetric pump. Strings and junk get into this pump. It is easy to take apart and cleanup. The tub is suspended on 4 rods and the lateral movement is kept in check by 4 rubber cord mounted to the top called bungies. The motor and tranny can easily be accessed by removing the tub from the washer. After disconecting the power cable and pump the tub lifts out. Not all GE washers use the same motor or the same transmission method. Some do not even have a tranny. I have some GE washer service manuals.

Don't see any problem with my wahsing machine, but the "dr" keeps signalling on the washer keeping it from operating. What do I do, the door seems to shut fine?

DR is door error

This generation of dryer has alot of control board failures(the relay for the heat burns the terminals for the wires), you can inspect these relay connection visably by removing the front control panel

This is indicating an open door circuit. Since the circuit cannot complete, you cannot program any cycles and the "clean filter" light will remain on until you can do so. You will find a technical data sheet inside your dryer, either just under the top panel, or inside the lower panel, if so equipped.

Hope helps.

My dryer quit working this morning. The light and beep go off but the drum dies nothing.

I have the Frigidaire Affinity Washer and Dryer. A few weeks ago my Washer door switch went out I changes that with no problem. Now the Dryer has just stop quit working. Here are the symptoms on the ; 1>it's plug up and the power is fine 2> there is no errors on the panel 3> control operate fine. 4> close the door, set the controls, press start, No spinning. 5> when you press start you hear a buzzing sound for about 5 seconds, then nothing... Is it over for the dryer I bought 3 years with out extended warranty, or is the a simple fix? Thanks, Rob...

How do I put the top cover of the washer back? I had the dryer put on top of the washer when it was first installed and took the washer cover off so the dryer can be bolted and sit on top of the washer...

Lay the panel on top of the washer with the screw holes pointed towards the back. Slide the panel forward until it is flush with the control panel. Reinsert the screws in the rear to secure.

NOTE: There should be a couple of tabs near the control panel on most of these washers that the top panel slides into to lock in place.

If you have questions, please post back with your MODEL NUMBER and let me know. I hope this help you.

Control board malfunctioning.

You can try tripping the breaker a half dozen times or so, or else leave it unplugged/without power for a couple days. Once it is plugged back in you may have to leave it overnight and then try it, but that almost always revives it. I notice the problem when I don't use the washer/dryer once a week or don't push any buttons during that time to activate it in some way. Problem seems to occur more frequently in the winter when house is cooler.

Where do I drain the tumble dry water on a hotpoint wd62 wash/dry

remove the top panel by unscrewing the 3 screws at the back of the washer dryer . remove the top and then remove the back metal panel. the screws are down the side and all around the back of the panel. once you have removed the panel check for the black rubber hose that connects to the drum. remove the clip holding the rubber hose by prising it with a small screwdriver. be careful as the water will flow out quite quickly. Check the hose pipe for any blockages and clear as required.

F21, 5d, and now not working

I had to call the Whirlpool service man. He came and concluded that the control panel was the culprit. He said it could be that the contacts were bad, but he didn't want to unstack the washer/dryer (dryer is on top of washer) to check it. He was suppose to call me to day with a price for another control. I'm just going to go and buy another machine. Can you recommend a reliable front loading washer?

Thanks for all your help!!!
