Sending a private or direct message on twitter is fairly simple. Log in to your account and click messages at the top of the screen. This will take you to the messages section of your account.

Once you're viewing the messages section, click the "New Message" button located toward the top of the screen. A small window will appear. Enter the recipient of your message in the first input and your full message text in the second, click send.

How do y ou send a twitt to someone
If you want to send a tweet to someone, just include the "@" symbol in front of their username. "@twittername", for example.

If the person is following you, you can also send a direct message which is private.

How to send tweet
You can find the step-by-step instructions on the twitter help website. Basically, you just need to include "@username" in your tweet to send a tweet to someone.

If they are following you, you can also send a direct message which is private.

Yeah hi my question is do people see my twitters i mean is it in public for everyone too see what i twitter to someone?
If you have followers and you post a tweet then your followers are able to view the tweet in their timeline. IF one of your followers retweets your tweet then their followers can also view it and so on.

The only private tweets are direct messages which you can send to anyone following you.

How to private twitter account
You need to set your account to private. This will allow you to approve who can view your tweets.

Visit the settings section by clicking on your image on the top right of the page when are logged into twitter. In the dropdown there is an option for settings.

Once on the settings page you will need to be viewing the account tab. There is a section for tweet privacy. You will need to check the box for "Protect My Tweets" - again this will allow you to approve anyone who would like to follow you and make your tweets private.

The largest pic size for twitter is 700k, and they support JPG, GIF, and PNG formats. The photo will be reduced to 78 pixels square for your main page, and 48 pixels square for use in the timeline.

There are two ways to reply/tweet to people directly, 'private' and 'private-plus-friends':

  1. Type "d USERNAME" before your tweet to send a direct message to a particular user. Only that user will see the message.
  2. Put "@USERNAME" at the beginning of your tweet to send a reply to a particular user. That user, your followers and that user's followers will all be able to see the tweet, but it won't appear on the public timeline.
You may receive error messages with the whale picture, but this is generally uncommon.

  1. Log in to Twitter via the Twitter Home Page, or via API. You can also update Twitter via Facebook and several other applications that use the Twitter API.
  2. Enter your message in the box with the label "What are you doing?" Keep in mind that your tweet can be no longer than 140 characters at the most. This limitation exists because Twitter uses the SMS network to send notifications via cell phone to those who desire it.
You may receive error messages with the whale picture, but this is generally uncommon.
