I would like to know what the factory high and low settings are on carb mantis 2 cycle there are no plastic caps on my jet screws and need to know how many turns out from fully seated is close to propper adjustment my son thought he was doing favor by trying to adjust

After seating the screws back them out 1 1/2 turns. This should be close enough to get it started. Let the motor warm up a little then, with it idling, turn the low screw in until it starts having a hard time running then back it out until it idles smoothly. Prop up the Mantis so it can run at full speed safely while you adjust the high side. With the throttle wide open, again turn the high screw in until it starts running roughly and back it out until the motor is running smooth. Some say to turn the screws out until the motor starts having a hard time running and then turn it back in half way to where it was running bad at the other end. This doesn't work as some engines don't care how far open the screws are.

Carburetor settings on Mantis tiller
Turn the carb mixture screw all the way in until it bottoms out and count the turns as you do that, then turn it out the same number of turns plus 1/2 more and see how it idles, if it runs poorly try turning it in and out slightly for best idle.

How far out should the high and low speed needle adjustment screws be out on the carb be out? The red and white caps have come off , and doesn't want to start. Thanks
I don't know if you have a Zama or Walbro diaphragm carburetor on this unit, so I will give you tuning methods for both! Zama First....

Starts and idles just fine, but when you depress the throttle lever to spin the tines it dies
The high-speed carb jet may be fouled. Most 2-cycle carburetors have two adjustable jets, one for idle, another for higher speeds and loads.

Won't start
Remove carburator also remove diaphragms and gaskets, soak carburator in carb cleaner over night, then spray dry. put back together with new diaphragms and gaskets. Triky part is next H-red ( high) L-white (Low) adjusting screws remore plastic caps to allow u further adjusting. This will get your tiller back up and running, let me know if it helps or any questions you might have

Tines continue to work with out touching safety or throttle. they engage as soon as I start the engine.
remove H (high) L (low) plastic caps to allow you to further adjust the flow and you will be going. H (red) further out about 11 threads exposed and L (low) about 8 exposed; adjusting the low side will stop the tines, but remove tines before making any adjustments, thanks

Will only start and run in choked position, when throttle applied chokes out. If started with out choke and throttle position in low speed will start and run for 10 sec then like it runs out of gas.
i have your solution guaranteed, I fixed mine yesturday remove H L screw plastic caps and on high 11 threads exposed and on the low side 8 threads exposed. removing the plastic caps allows u further adjusting these wear out or move soo just take them things off and you will be rolling

Mantis starts ok, and idles just fine, but when you give it gas it dies?
Start with the basics. Check condition of fuel lines and fuel filter. May need a simple adjustment by backing out on the low mixture screw just enough to give you a smooth "throttle up". You may also need to open the high mixture screw to obtain proper high speed. If adjustments do not correct the problem, you could be looking at overhauling or replacing the carburetor, whichever is more cost effective. Hope this helps.

What are the carb. jet settings for the Mantis tiller?
When the engine and carb were new, the factory settings were 1 1/4 turns out. As fuel deposits form and things wear, it is normal to need occasional adjustment. If the adjustments need to go more than 2 1/2 turns out, or if the adjustments seem to need constant change, then the carb needs to be overhauled. Here in the USA, many areas use gas that is 10% alcohol. The alcohol effects the soft parts in the carb and will often cause hardening of the diaphragm. If/when you overhaul the carb, also replace the fuel lines and tank grommet.

My Mantis will run but I can't get it to "wrap up". It is a 2 cycle gas and about 6 years old. I have rebuilt the carburetor. It's just doggy and won't go into high speed. I have messed with the high speed...
If your Mantis has a ZAMA carb, replace it. Don't bother with a carb rebuild kit.

I had exactly the same problem, did everything you did. New carb fixed it. Runs like new now.

Mantis tiller 2 cycle seemed as if it was running out of gas
Check fuel filter and lines, if thay are good I would get a carb kit and set the adjustment screws at 1 turn out from lightley seated to start. Don't lean high speed screw too much.
You might check muffler & cylinder port for carbon first.
