For parts, 18006681238 is a toll free number (at least in Canada) to MTD (who made this model for Mastercraft). The part number is 754-0371A for V-belt 'B' x 74.04. I got this from the original manual. The phone number came from under the seat of my ride on mower.....yeah, it's the same model. I bought mine in 1999.
Hope this helps.....

SOURCE: Craftsman 42 inch riding lawn mower is not cutting evenly
The first thing to check is your blades. If one is bent, it will never cut even. It happens a lot hitting roots, antbeds, etc. Mulching blades will bend easier than a straight blade. It's best to take them off and lay one on top of the other to see if they're bent.

yes they have a charging system, not like a car but a charging system one the less. as i said before either under or around the flywheel. some newer mowers also have an electronic regulator.
SOURCE: can't find model number
there should be a data plate somewhere on the tractor with model and ser #. Usually it is under the seat. The motor numbers are usually stamped on the engine cover with model type and code.
SOURCE: Craftsman 42 inch cutting deck riding lawn mower.
Some of the 42 inch Craftsman mowers Have a cable that goes from the blade leaver to the deck some have a linkage if it has the cable check it to see if it has broken. Find where it connects to the deck pully and pull on the cable wire not the cable cover and see if if comes out also make sure it is connected to the top of the idler pully. If it has a linkage there is a clip that holdes that linkage to the deck it most likely came off.
