Have GE GSD1150T64 dishwasher, 10 years old, making loud grinding noise. I read where others use zip ties, but inside this one there is no base to secure the zip tie to? Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hello,

Take the lower kick plate off four 1/4 screws. The noise is coming from the motor itself. This is a very common issue on these units. The motor is held into the bottom with two 5/16 hose clamps.

Once the clamps are off the motor will fall down and slide forward. Simply slide the new motor into position and push up lock the two clamps and your done. The two wire connection on the front of the motor would also need to be removed and hooked back up.

Good luck with your repair friend

When washer is started make loud grinding noise

Very likely the bearings in the motor have begun to fail. You can replace the motor, but for a 15 year old DW, sometimes it makes better sense to just buy a new one. Depends on the features the old DW has, vs new, vs motor replacement cost.

Dishwasher making loud noise

Newer washers are designed with a food grinder inside to help grind up large pieces of food. What you are hearing is the grinder doing its job. You do not need to worry about the noise. It should go away after a while as the food particle is ground up.

GE Adorda dishwasher

This one is a known issue and an easy fix. Use a tie wrap to securely tie the water tube for the middle spray to the upper basket. That's it. Believe it or not, it's that simple. You may want to secure it at the front and the back. To test this you can use the tie wraps used to closed the plastic grocery or bread bags. If this solves the problem you can buy a bag of nylon tie wraps from any hardware store. I had a similar problem with another GE model with a similar problem. The dishwahser used to make a horrible grinding noise during the wash cycle. One I secured the middle sprayer arm the grinding noise went away.
